Soapbox Saturday - Bissell

Remember how I asked you guys for some vacuum advice a while back after my Shark stick vac died?  I wrote Shark to explain my frustration and never heard back.  However, later I got a really nice e-mail from Bissell, offering me two of their sweepers to try out.  I was thrilled to give them a shot and more than happy with the products.  Here are the two they sent me to try.

So, we divided into teams and tried them both out.

Both sweepers got a real work out from my boys.  They were both really light and maneveured easily.  So, here's my run down on what I liked about each sweeper.

The Natural Sweep is really eco-friendly.  You don't plug anything in.  It just sweeps as you move it.  To be honest, I didn't think I was going to like this one.  I was wrong.  It's awesome for a quick clean up - especially when my kids are napping.  It doesn't make any real noise, since you don't plug it in.  It worked well on the hardwood and the rug.  You do have to roll a bit past the crumbs you are sweeping up in order to pick them up.  Since there's no suction you can't just barely go over them.  You have to push about a foot beyond the mess.  I love that there's no replacing bags.  Just empty the container.  No charging, no complications.  I think I'll have this forever.

The Perfect Sweep Turbo was also really good.  I think it picks up a little better than the other one because the brushes turn even when you're not pushing it.  It has these little brushes on the side that help when you're sweeping along the wall.  It's also easy to empty out.  It's a lot more quiet than the old Shark one I had, which is a bonus.

So which one do I prefer?  Well, my answer is BOTH.  It's honestly a split tie for me.  I am really pleased with both sweepers.  They are great products.

Thank you Bissell for letting me try them out and for solving my under the table dilemma.

And thank you for reading.

  1. I have a new toy from Bissell that I adore as well! This one: http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-Steam-Sweep-Cleaner-46B4/dp/B003ZVKLUA
I bought it when we listed our house so that I could make one quick pass over the laminate and tile in the main areas of the house before vacating for showings. It's been great! For sweeping up under the table after meals (since my kids are about the same age as yours and I **know** your pain), I prefer one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Quickie-429-Flip-Dustpan-Broom/dp/B000ATT3GI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1304167802&sr=1-1 Love me some dustpan on a stick!!

  2. How do you think these babies would do with dog hair? I am looking for something to use on my hardwood floors with pet hair.

  3. Love your photos....cute boys and so willing to help with the experiment.

  4. I was very interested to read about these as I am always on the lookout for a good small sweeper. Dog hair is the bain of my existence so I have to sweep a lot. Couldn't use one if it didn't do well with dog hair. Also curious now about the steam and laminate! Does it make it shine? I also have to mop every night!

  5. I'm so glad you found Bissell. I kept intending to comment and tell you that I have one and LOVE the job that it does, but I got busy and forgot! Now I don't feel so bad! Enjoy!

  6. Great info. Thanks! We had a shark large vac, but it was horrible. So my mother-in-law bought me a stick for Christmas. I think it may be a bissel, but not either of these. I will keep these in mind though for when I need a new one, which hopefully will not be for awhile.

  7. Thanks for posting this..I bought a Dirt Devil a few years back and it was HORRIBLE. I'm now a little gun shy about stick vacs, but with three boys, one comes in handy for the crumbs. I just didn't want to spend the money just to be screwed again. I might give the turbo a shot.

  8. Thanks for sharing! I'll take a shortcut from here to Bissel.

  9. Great info. I need a new one soon.

I need to know about Rex's shoes!!!! Is that IronMan??? My 3 yr old would LOVE.
