Blogger Bloopers with me

This week we are showcasing the behind-the-scenes bloopers that don't tend to make it on the blog.  Today I'm going to share a few blunders and then I have some fun guest bloggers lined up all ready to show you some funny stuff the rest of the week.

Back when I first started this blog and I made this dress (shown below), it was the second draft.  The first one was a horrible mess.  I didn't know much about sewing at that point.  I had purchase some really heavy upholstery fabric that I loved and even though I though it was a bit too heavy I tried it anyway.  (The second draft below was made with different fabric.  Obviously :)

I sewed up the side to make the skirt part.  I thought I'd better try it on before I sewed it to the top shirt part.  I wanted to make sure I could get it on.  Well, after some real work I got it on....kind of.  It got stuck around my chest and butt.  I couldn't even pull it off.  I was stuck.  Really stuck.

I decided to weigh out my options.  I could call my husband down to help me, but I knew I would have to endure a lifetime of humiliation if I did so.  (My husband enjoys laughing at me.  He once took me down to the ground with a small push when he noticed I was struggling to get my feet out of my shorts as I undressed.)

I decided to do it on my own.  I inched my way to the table and finally found my seam ripper.  I had to rip myself out of the tube stitch by stitch.  As each stitch ripped I found myself able to breath a little more.  Ah!  Sweet oxygen.  Finally, I was released.  I decided to call it a night.

I also thought it would be fun to share some ugly pictures too.  I take a lot of pictures to get the ones I use on my blog.  Here are some of "the others."

Sometimes projects don't work unless you make this specific face.

Is this thing on?

This one is one if my favorites.

And lastly, some of you might remember last year's "special guest" during Hair Week.

Life isn't perfect and neither is blogging.....which makes for a lot of laughs along the way.
Thanks for dropping in.

  26. Oh and wouldn't it be funny if all of us bloggers got together and had a blooper series? Maybe it would be an overload of horrible projects but I know we all have projects like that. Maybe more than a few. At least I do. :)

  38. I am so amused by all of this - it's hilarious, and so great to know that those "sewing mistakes" happen to everyone - NOT just me :). One of the bloopers I made that still makes me shake my head was the time I tried to dye some elastic purple to match a skirt I was making my daughter. I had a four month old at the time, and I had like an hour when he was asleep and my daughter was at school to try to pull this off. It was a pretty big fail. http://pintucks.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/dye-1-christy-0/

  41. Classic. Had a good laugh with my cereal this morning. Thankfully, none of it came out of my nose. Thanks for showing the more humourous moments. The other day I stitched a doll head to my top. Not to mention the day I glued a straight pin to my stomach. Or how about the time I found blue paint in my belly button but had not been using blue paint that day. Yup, totally get the bloopers thing.

  42. So funny! The looks like something my husband would do to pick on me. So glad you're posting all of your "real" moments. It lets us all know that you're just like the rest of us.

  49. This is serious, you could have DIED in that thing! Who knew sewing could be so dangerous. I much prefer the perfectly safe looking version that makes its way to the blog.

That video was funny the first time and it still cracks me up!

  50. LOL at photo and video bloopers! I had a million video bloopers from my crochet series intro and finally I just wrote myself a script. And then this happened:

"Jeffrey!" Made me laugh out loud!

  55. Every photo here cracked me up. But especially the "crack" one.

Your dress story is too much. I've had so many "oops" that I made a section on my blog called "what NOT to do" but I've been too lazy to remember to post to it.

Your dress story reminds me of the time I got trapped in a U.S. Navy uniform shirt in a vintage shop. I went alone that day, so I had no friends to help me out of it. I have no idea how I got it on in the first place, and I almost had to buy the thing and walk out of there wearing it. Where were MY seam rippers that day?... :)

  56. Oh I love this post! Thanks for sharing the not-so-perfect moments, they're usually the best.
