Sunshine Sunday - dress up, sleepers, and the zoo

Anyone who says dress up is for girls probably doesn't have boys.  I love it when my boys put on their costumes.  They begged me to paint on mustaches for them too the other day.  How can these faces not make me happy?

Sometimes it's the little things in life.  Target always gets sleepers in around this time of year.  I love them and if you ever come knock at my door and I don't answer, it's probably because I'm wearing mine.  I purchased the Fox one this year and have requested that the boys call me, "Foxy Lady" while I'm wearing it.  They think it's as funny as I do.

We hadn't been to the zoo in a couple of years, I think.  I took the boys this week and it was SO fun.  The first thing we saw was a monkey and they both kept saying how cool it was to see a monkey.  I thought, "Oh you wait.  There's a whole lot more coming."  The seals were their favorite.  It was so cool to see them swim by.  I don't know why we haven't gone to the zoo more.  Man, they loved it.

I am also grateful that fall is on the way.  It's my favorite and I can feel it coming.  The trees in the mountains are so beautiful with spots of orange, red, and yellow.  I'll have to snap a picture for you to see.

What was the highlight of your week?  Thanks for reading.

  1. Cheri, I feel the same way about fall. This time is my favorite time of the year.

I can't get on board with you about the adult sleepers though!

  2. My three year old boy liked this, particularly the seal.

  3. Until now, I've always lived in warm climates and spend most of my day in underwear. So, yeah, no unexpected door answering here either! We just moved to Minnesota, though, so I think I'll be wearing much warmer clothes from now on. (Last night it was in the 30s!) I'm not sure I could handle footed sleepers, though. And what about the hubby? Nothing says "not tonight" quite like a footed sleeper, right? :)

  7. I love fall! So fabulous. And now I need to see if they make those footies in my size. I want the stripey ones badly!

  8. Those boys faces just crack me up! Too cute! Yeah, I am with you on the footed sleeper. I don't have any but I live in Minnesota too (like another commenter) and I sure am thinking about it! I love autumn (sorry, not native, can't quite get used to calling it fall yet). LOVE IT. I have already started dotting little bits of Halloween'ish type decor around the house. Love Halloween too!

  9. I also love love love the fall. Coming from New England, it's kind of a given for me. I only get homesick for the East Coast in October :) I also love my footie PJs... but they are too hot to sleep in. Sad face. One great part of this past week was reading your article about my husband's (Kirk's) marriage class! I'm so sad I wasn't able to come to meet you in person. Our little boy was not a happy camper, and I couldn't bear to ask a babysitter to handle that :) So glad you enjoyed it. I think he's pretty awesome myself, but I'm a bit biased :)

  10. My Lucy (4yrs) loves to play dress up. My son, G (Grant, 20 months) was always wearing his sister's tutus and princess crowns. I used some of your tutorials to make some boy dress up and now they both love dressing up in capes and masks. Thanks for making me realize that boys can have fun playing dress up too!

We love fall at our house. Nothing says fall like a cool weather camping trip and hike. We had a fantastic weekend here in Missouri!!

  11. Fall is my favourite season. I'm staying at my mom and dad's house in the country with my kids right now while my kitchen reno is happening, and it is just the best. (well, except when the wind turns the wrong way and I can smell the freshly manured field down the way, haha)
The fiery trees... the smell of fall in the air... Thanksgiving... pumpkin spice latte... my birthday... fall is the best! (I'm not too old to be excited about my birthday yet, lol)
