Photography Tips - Part 2

Alright!  Today we're going to do some simple editing.  This can take a good photo to a great photo.  I LOVE to edit.  When taking photos, I think the most important thing you can do is get a really clear picture.  Then, you can edit to get anything else you need.

I'm going to show you three before and afters and there will be a video following each one so you can see exactly how I did it, using Picnik.  That way you can get familiar with the program by watching without having to find where all the buttons are yourself.  The videos aren't crystal clear, but I think you'll still get the idea.

I hope you've got some new ideas to help you edit your photos.  Let me know if you have more photo-related questions.  We've got two more days of photo fun ahead.  I'm going to show you how to add text, clip art, give you some photo-taking ideas, and share with you some of my favorite photography links.  Thanks for coming over!  Now go have a PICNIK!

  1. Wow! Thanks so much for this post Cheri. I've checked out Picnick before after reading about it on your blog, but wasn't too impressed. I had no idea there were so many options with the subscription. I'm going to give it a second chance now.

  11. Hi Cheri~ I found your blog a while a back and LOVE it! I commented on your Sharing Saturday post, but wanted to say how much I'm enjoying your photo tips. I've always thought that I need an expensive DSLR to get great photos. But w/ your tips and some editing one Picknik maybe I should give my point & shoot another chance. Keep the craftiness coming!

  17. wow, really cool. I've hear people say they use picnik before, but I had no idea it had a lot of the same features as photoshop. I'm really lucky because as part of my job, I get to have all those fancy programs, but dang, this is cool!

  19. It's actually scientifically proven (I learned this in a psychology class in university) that upping the contrast in a photo makes the person look more feminine. On the other hand, decreasing contrast is better for masculine faces. :)
