Sharing Saturday - my questions

I thought it would be nice to throw in a Sharing Saturday since we haven't had one in a while.  I feel a bit selfish, though because this time they are all my questions!  I think we've answered everyone else's questions so I thought I'd throw a few out there myself.  Here we go.

1) We have a big rug under our kitchen table.  I've always had a "Shark" to vacuum up right after meals.  It's little and it even picks up chunks of food.  However, when I buy one it only seems to last about 6 months.  That ticks me off because they aren't that cheap.  I have a regular vacuum, but I'm hoping there's another product like the Shark that's little and convenient for quick clean up.  Anyone have a good suggestion?

2) When I buy a pair of flip flops I wear them 24/7 during the summer.  What is your favorite brand of flip flop?  I'm looking for comfort and quality.

3) Are there any specific things you'd like to see a tutorial for here?

Thanks for your help and input.  And...so you don't leave without a picture....check out Baden's bedhead.  I thought it would mellow out as it got longer.  Oh no.  It's still thriving.  Love it.

Thanks for dropping in.

  1. I personally like old navy best. Not very good quality. Reef is good. I do have a courdaroy (sp) from american eagle and I have had them for 6 years and love them. ( this is just a side note, I did send you an email but I don't know if it was marked as spam? I just recently started an etsy shop and I wanted to know about your advertising packages? Thanks :))

  2. 1. ?? I got nothin...
    2. Me, too! I got this awesome pair of Clarks last summer at DSW:
    http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/EC1194101-5113416/Clarks/Pewter/Women%27s+Salon+Joy.aspx?icid=undefined,
and they are perfect for everyday wear and even can be dressing enough to wear with a cute sundress or skirt. Since they're Clarks, they are so comfortable while still being flat little flip flops. I also have a million pairs of Gap Outlet flip flops-they come in black, brown, mocha and fun patterns, they're only like $3 when they're on sale, and they last forever!

    3. Nothin' again. I love your blog because you always have totally unique ideas-things I would have never come up with myself! I have twins-a girl and a boy-and while I can create cute night and day for my daughter, it's hard to find cool stuff for my son. I love your style and ideas for my little guy!

  4. 1. i use an oreck handheld vac for the rug under the table (and other places as well). i have to vacuum after every meal, too! i got it for free with my big oreck vacuum, but i just found one on craigslist here that my girlfriend picked up for $30. i have had mine for four years with no problems and recommend them to everyone!

    2. i just buy the old navy ones, but not the super cheap old navy ones. i like the rubber type more than the foam!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Definitely Reef. Really comfy and long lasting. I don't think the Old Navy ones are even worth bothering with, but that's just me.

  6. 1. I got nothing... cuz i dont have carpet under the dining table. And I have a cat that will get to the dropped food before anyone can get a broom to it... EEEWWWW
    2. I have a pair of flipflops from Target that I have had for 6 years and they were comfy when I bought them and still are to this day. I wear them ALLL Summer. My daughter loves rainbow flip flops.

  7. 1. swivel sweeper. it's around $40 and maneuvers really well!
    2. I live in Puerto Rico and wear flip flops all year round and reefs definitely are some of the most comfortable and long lasting i have found.

  8. I am a reef girl too! I have a ton from Payless too...airwalks I think? plus a bunch of cheapy ones, but Reef is the best for if you are going to walking on feet all day!

No advice on vaccum we have a $40 Walmart special. lol

Tutorials? I love all of them! How about something to do with the jeans my son can't seem to keep the knees in? He shreds the knees within a month!

  9. I need just a tiny bit or arch support so I am goin got get Teva's but I have had some AMAZINGLY comfy Sketchers flip flops too.

How about a tutorial for Zippers. (so sorry if you've done that?)

  10. As far as your flip flop question goes, here in Miami, I just about wear Flip Flops all year long as we only get about 2 days of cold. So my two fav brands are Havianas because I love there designs and they are SUPER comfy, and Old Navy of course! Havianas are a little on the expensive side, and Old Navy are just cute and cheap. But again, in Miami Flip Flops of all styles are a must, as well as Pedis...... hope this helps! :)

  11. crocs flip flops are the best. they are very comfy and have actual support so you can wear them all day and night and your feet feel great. they also last a long time. i wear mine everywhere and they have lasted 2 seasons. i like to pick them up when there is a BYGO then i have 2 styles for the summer.

by chance will there be another hair week or something like that? my hubby is pretty grateful for the dressed up ponytail i learned here :)

  12. 1) a dog. you can have mine. She is a sweet little Shitzhu and she drives me insane because she breathes too heavily and I have issues. 2) Old Navy, I think, but my brain seized up at the words 'flip flops' because there is like two feet of snow in the shallow spots outside my window. 3) I already know how to do everything. Just kidding, but I'm glaring suspiciously around my main living area right now and I can't come up with anything. I mean I can think of a few types of crochet hats I need to learn what the stitches are so I can dupe them but I don't think you're a crocheter, are you? Plus I'm pretty sure it's lazy to ask other people to figure out how to dupe a hat for you when you can do it yourself. Unless you are a crocheter, and bored enough to figure it out for me, in which case I will find some pics, STAT.

  13. 1. oreck, all the way. they're expensive, but the quality and warranty makes it worth the initial expense. my vacuum has a 20 year warranty and gets a free yearly tuneup.

    2. everyday flip flops: reef! i buy a new black pair once a year. they're squishy and comfy and simple. i also have a few pairs of corso como brand, which are leather. a little pricey but again, worth it for quality and comfort. i've got 3 pairs of those and wear them ALL the time- when we lived in texas, i wore flip flops almost year round and figured i'm a grown up so i shouldn't be wearing plastic shoes all the time :)

  14. 1. Get a dog! Not exactly "cheap" but boy do they keep your floors clean!

    2. Havianas come in every colors under the rainbow.

    3. I'd love to hear your thoughts on some new rainy day projects for toddlers =)

  15. I wear flip flops all the time too! my favorite are reef sandals. they last a long time and are super comfy :0)

  16. The best flip flops are Havaianas, hands down. In Brazil everybody wears them and they last FOREVER. And they are the most comfy ones I've ever had. Cushy sole, no blisters, lightweight, lots of color choices. Nordstrom sells them but you can get them cheaper through the Havaianas website.
Chacos are also amazing, but more heavy duty and pricier. But if you need arch support or want to hike in them, they are the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1)Yeah, gotta go with dog. She doesn't eat up the playdoh bits, which is too bad for me (prob good for her, though). We got rid of our table rug after a bad chocolate milk accident, and use a pan and broom. I haven't looked back since. I have 5 kids; I can't have nice things. Sigh.

    2) Nah... Though I always like to see how different folks get the best results out of knits. I have a terrible time.

    3) I live in FL, so I'm an expert , and I totally agree with the pp: Havainas are amazing. Reefs are a very, very close second, especially if you're looking for a floppy floppy with a fabric thong. And Reefs last FOREVER, even with daily wear. Buy em in black, you won't regret it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I have tile under our table, so i cant help you with that. However, my favorite flip flops are yellow box. They arent as cheap as old navy but they are very comfortable. They have dressy ones and casual.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1) I agree with the dog. We have 3 and our floors have never been cleaner!

    2) REEFS all the way! They last forever. If they start to stink add a little vinegar and water soak them and lay them in the sun.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 1. I have the Shark and I love it. As long as I change the filter once a month and wash out the old one. I have had mine for two years and I use it daily. Clue was to buy extra filters and change them out every month. I have three filters, but are only using two since I wash the filters and let them dry inbetween.
    2. I don't wear flip flops hardly at all because I can never find ones that fit my very small feet.
    3. As for tutorials, I don't know either.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I live in Houston, so I can wear flip flops about 3/4 of the year. I live in Reefs. I just bought a new pair last week, actually, on one of those Living Social coupons to shoebacca.com (did you see those?! SCREAMING deal!). I got these: http://www.amazon.com/Reef-Womens-Mallory-Flip-Flop/dp/B00363UW8S

I also branched out and tried a brand I'd never had before and really like them! SUPER comfy. http://www.sanuk.com/yoga-mat I got red, which is super fun.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Reefs!!! They're the best! A little pricey but they last forever and are super comfy :) I bought a pair in '01 and they're still alive and kickin :) haha

As far as the Shark... honestly I use a Dust Buster and it works great. It picks up for and everything too. You can rinse out the collection container. Mine has even picked up cottage cheese! haha I've had it 2 years and it's working great. I don't think I paid more than $30 for it.

    Good luck!!!

  23. I love my black reef flip flops!! They are sooo comfy! They don't slip off easily and i live in them. The only downside is that the straps are fabric so if they get wet, they can become a little uncomfortable. I've had them for 3 years and they're still perfect!

I also wear my cute croc mary janes in silver all summer. They clean easily, are cute, and very comfortable. They're vented so they stay cool...

  24. For flip flops, it's old navy. But I also splurged on a pair on leather rainbows a few years ago that I LOVE.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Honestly, the most comfortable flip flops that I have purchased are the ones from dollar tree... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. My favorite two pairs of flip flops are from JCrew. I got them years ago and they have held up great. LOVE them. I also have a few pairs of Old Navy. Cheap and comfy.

    ReplyDelete
  27. We bought my mom the Electrolux ErgoRapido 2-in-1 and she LOVES it! We gave it to her for Christmas 2009 and it still works great. It is an upright stick vacuum and it has a removable handheld vacuum. She stores it in a corner and it rests on the charger so it is always ready to go.
Even though I am probably the only person out there like this, NO flip flops for me! I can't stand to have something between my toes. So that rules out a lot of cute sandals too! :( I have tried and I just can't do it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love the Teva Fliplops. They are all comfy but my fav are the 'Mush' Style, They are soo soft and have great support at the same time. They last a long time too. Just bought me a new pair last week at sports authority. You can find them other places too.

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_26?url=search-alias%3Dshoes&field-keywords=teva+mush+flip+flops+women&sprefix=teva+mush+flip+flops+women&rh=n%3A672123011%2Ck%3Ateva+mush+flip+flops+women&ajr=3

  29. 1. I've got a Shark too, but it is still kickin'. I don't use it as much as you, though. So no recommendations :(

    2. REEF!! Got some black ones w/ leather straps several years ago and they still look like new. Well worth the investment!

    3. I love t-shirt embellishment tutorials. Would also love some fun ideas to use up some of my knit stash. And I'd like to learn how to do a hidden zipper in skirts. I have several dresses that I want to turn into skirts, but have been a bit scared.
Love your blog! Thanks for all your hard work you put into it :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have heard Reefs are great...have not bought a pair yet though. Maybe this year. I LOVE Teva. They are so comfy and last forever!

    ReplyDelete
  31. 1. Dyson!! Mine is the DC17 Animal and it has a floor tool attachment. It has been loved beyond words. :)
    2. Reefs! You can find them at Ross much cheaper than Dillards or sporting goods stores. They are the best.
    3. Hmmm...more freezer paper stencils for little girls? :) And another hair week!!

  32. I think that reef flip flops are super comfortable and they last for year. And my husband is a serious promoter of Rainbow. He has had a pair that has lasted forever and he loves them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Coming from a girl l that lives in Florida and wears flip flops 365 days a year....Rainbows are the best! Quality leather.

  34. I see I'm not the first one here to say that Teva Mush flip flops are great. Super comfy and great quality. They also have a lot of styles & colors to choose from. I chose them over Reef or Rainbow because I wanted them to be waterproof and lightweight (leather Reefs and Rainbows are neither), and also because they're half to a third of the cost of those brands.

Also, they make Teva Mush in toddlers and little kids sizes, and they are adorable (and arund $12)! They have that awesome heel strap that keeps them on. I recommend those highly - my daughter loved them last summer when she had just turned two.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If you have an Academy near you check out their flip flop selection, lots of them and last. I am still wearing mine from last year and being in Texas theres really on 3 months out of the year you cant wear them.

Quest 1 & 2 Im at a loss, that is exactly why I dont have a rug under my table and love all your stuff. I know personally I enjoy revamps of small stuff if theres any ideas in that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My favorite pairs of flip flops are Reef and Yellow Box! I have had my reef pair for probably 6 years or longer and they are very comfy. I buy Yellow Box all the time because they're cute AND comfy.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1. Get a dog! :)
    2. Addidas, Murrell
    3. More t-shirt ideas for ladies

    Have a great weekend! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  38. I gotta put my vote in for Rainbows! They will last you forever. I've had my pair for almost 4 years and am just starting to feel like I need a new pair. I think it is only because I've gotten them wet and too sandy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Rainbows!!! They come with a lifetime warranty on the sole. They are the best.

  40. 1. Do you have a shark that plugs in? I really like mine that plugs into the wall... my mom use to get the battery operated vacuums and they never lasted long with the battery. The Shark also has the steam vacuum, my SIL has that and loves it, I have the steam pocket mop and love that too.

    2. Reef sandals (with the fabric straps), super comfy and last a long time!

    3. I would love to see boy toys, I have two boys and I would like to make them more toys/learning games, etc.

Thanks for sharing so much of your time with us! I love reading your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  41. 2. I lov teva flip flops. The mush kind. They are a bit pricy but are very durable and comfortable and have good arch support. I get mine at dsw (discount shoe warehouse). But I'm not sure if there are one of these in Utah (i live in CA)

P.S. I'm like you with wearing my flip flops, but I wear mine ALL YEAR ROUND (that's CA climate for you)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm team Rainbow when it comes to flip flops. I wear mine year round and they last for years (most of mine are going of four)

    ReplyDelete
  43. My little sisters swear by Chacos leather flips. I'm planning on getting some if I can ever wear them without my toes freezing off. One of my sisters is even planning on wearing them at her wedding reception, so they must be pretty good for all that standing.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't have any recommendations on the shark, because I use my Dyson Animal for everything, but I'd love to hear what everyone says in case I ever am in the market for a smaller vacuum-esk type product.

As for flip-flops I'm with you. As soon as it's warm enough I wear them into the ground. Each spring involves a trip to Old Navy to buy a mix of colors to coordinate with warmer weather attire ;)

    Have a Blessed Saturday!

  45. 1. Oreck hand held - it has the best suction out there!
    2. I like yellow box for their designs - I think they are better for wider feet. Clarks are probably more comfortable.
    3. love what you do already!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Havianas all the way my dear! You won't be disappointed!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I live on an island and have tried seriously every flip flop. My go to pair are always Reef (slap model). They have arch support and last. They have 100 different types, so you can find a style you like. My runner up pair are Ohana sport. Shop sales online and you'll get a great deal. Like all shoes, don't wear them everyday. Switch them out and they will last longer and be more comfortable (and less stinky if that is an issue).
Thanks for your blog, love it!

    ReplyDelete
  48. 1) The Bissel 3 in 1 vac. A-stinkin'-mazing!!!!! http://www.bissell.com/3-in-1-vac/
It was a little tough to find one around me, my local wal mart online said they didn't have one in stock, but I went there, and they had a few. Amazon also sells them, but a little more $$, but even less than $40 is a steal in my opinion! It has a normal "dirt devil" type opening, a floor attachment and a crevice tool. I use mine on the hardwood floor, the carpet under the dining room table (for all kinds of food chunks my 4 and 1 1/2 year olds drop) and (I know this sounds weird) even to vacuum off the microfiber dust mop and the pile it leaves behind after I dust mop the wood floors. It does plug in, but I think that's what makes it so amazingly powerful. And it's not so bad to have a cord because it's like 16 feet long. No lie. Anyway, amazing.
    2) Reefs, all the way.
    3) More of everything you do because I love all you do! Custom artwork for home decor maybe? : )

    ReplyDelete
  49. 1: I got nothin. No carpet in my kitchen because i hate vacuuming.
2: i am CHEAP, i do the sale generic flip flops, always under $5 come in all sorts of colors and such, and when/if they break i just buy another pair.
3: i love your ideas that revolve around boys since i also have 2. it's hard to find boy stuff that isn't dumb. :)

thanks for always having the best blog.

  53. Favorite flip flops - Rainbows!!!! They are sooo comfy and hold up. worth every penny!

I want to see you make a mustache shirt for you. lol

    ReplyDelete
  54. 1) we have a Eureka Optima Light Weight and it works really well
    2) try Old Navy those always last forever for me plus if you catch them in one of their amazing deals you might even get a pair for just $1 otherwise the regular price is 2 for $5 or $3 for one i believe
    3) more T-shirt decorating tutorials!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I've had reef and teva flip flops forever. They come in cute designs that I feel comfortable in at church and at the beach and they don't do that uncomfortable rub thing on your toes. Totally worth the $15-20.

    ReplyDelete
  56. 3.) More photography tutorials, things for me, and keep the boy/baby/kid ideas coming! :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. 1) we went to IKEA and pick up one of those mats you use in the office to protect the carpet from the wheels on your office chair. It's plastic, it's big, it's cheap and it's clear so I can still see our pretty wooden floor. But I'm sure it'll work for carpet too. Then I can use a duster to clean the floor.
    2) Flip flops... I've had billabongs (Australian brand) and loved them! I've got crocs at the moment, but I really don't like them, although they last forever. I've got Teva sandals (my hubby has the flip flops), I'm currently on my 5th pair and they are great.
    3) Hmm tutorials... I always love tutorials without patterns. Little, quick and easy projects that make something normal really special.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have found the most comfortable to be from Reebok. I find them every year at Shopko. Each year they get more and more stylish....but they feel good on my feet.

  62. 1. really can"t help you there i have rainbow vac and that can be a pain when u just want to vac after small meal although it good as we heavy traffic of in and out (4 boys can really bring alot in and out)
    2. Yellow Box..I wear it 24/7 and it really comfortable.. and I really jog after the twins, walk in the rain, and in the house when my feet is tired of walking on hardwood floor. I put them on like a bedroom slipper...love them (they have casual and alittle dress up I even wore them through VBS or Wed night at church)

  64. 1. We have a 2 1/2 year old who is a tidy eater but seems to make a mess out of everything else (especially the car). We have had one of these: http://www.blackanddecker.com/power-tools/FHV1200.aspx
for 2 years now and it is AMAZING!!! The thing can actually do a quick cleaning of our great room in one charge, sucks up cat hair off the couch, consumes cheerios like it's nobody's business, has the necessary tools to get into the couch cracks and is small so we keep it charging in a closet. I can't say enough good things about it. I should also note, I can clean my whole car in one charge.

I've never replaced the filter but I do brush out the insides periodically.

  65. 1. Our puppy Mocha takes care of any food that drops on the floor! ;)

    2. I live in Orange County, CA and live in flip flops year around. I love my Rainbows. I've had them for years and they're super comfy!

    3. How about some baby boy shoes? I see baby girl "mary janes" everywhere, but where's the cute stuff for a baby boy? :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. I used to be a baker, and in the summer, in the boiling hot kitchen, I would wear TEVAs. I was on my feet all day and they were great! The 'mush' style is so comfy and good support. I find them at DSW every spring and buy a pair - I usually wear them out by the end of the summer, because it's all I wear.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Rainbows are the best flip flops on the planet and last FOREVER. I was a Reef girl until I tried them.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love the Reef sandy sandals! I have about 5 pairs (black, brown, blue etc...) I wear them all summer long and have had them for a few years now and they are still in great condition! Best time of year to buy them are in the fall/winter!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have narrow feet and have never been able to find rubber flip flops (like the Old Navy kind). Until..

I bought my 1st pair of Havianas 2 years ago. I still wear my 1st pair and they are so comfy. I wear them to the park in the sand, to the splashpads,in the garden, etc. I now have 5 pairs. They are $18 at Macys, but I am lucky enough to live by a Nordstroms Rack and get them for $12.99. I just bought my 3 year old daughter a pair also :)

I have a dog, so vacuuming under the table isnt an issue for me - I call her my rumba. Can't help you there :)

Love all your tuts, just keep 'em coming.

    ReplyDelete
  70. 1. I too agree with the dog option! Plus the dog will keep your boys entertained while you blog!

    2. Teva Teva Teva. I have been wearing them for years. Love them.

    3. I have a plastic bag problem, as in, I have no where to store them after I bring them home from the grocery store before I ship them off for recycling. Any chance you have a cute idea on how to store plastic bags????

    Thanks!!!

  71. 2. Hawaianas they are from brazil, and there women use 24/7 , they have nice models and very good quality.

    3. Would be nice sewing vídeos ( im learning to use swing machine) and more photo tips :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. havaianas. I have had two pairs. One I wore everyday for 2 years (when we lived in FL) then one day they broke as I was out for the day. I just got a new replacement pair last summer. They are pricey but comfy and stylish.

    ReplyDelete
  73. My old Teva flips lasted me several summers. The kind with the wide webbing, not the wimpy thin straps.

If you want really good quality try Chacos - they're not exactly flips, but the support is awesome and they look cooler than flips anyway :)

Give a rundown of what sewing machine you use and what you like/don't like/wish you had known/wish it did differently type thing. I haven't seen many sewing bloggers talk about their machines and it's a shame because I need the info! I'm in the market for one right now and curious to know what people trend towards.

  74. 1. definetly the Electrolux stick vac. I have had a Shark and my battery only lasted probably about 6 months... and it makes a terrible noise when I turn it on. But the electrolux, my parents and brother have and have been using at least 3 years now. It also have a "dust buster" in so you can just pop it off for the hard to reach places. Anyway, it is so much more convinient to use multiple times a day than to get the big vacuum out. I am a fan. As soon as my current shark dies, that is the next replacement.

  75. On the first question- have you written the company to complain about the quality? My sister does this with stuff all the time and I'm always amazed- the companies often refund her money, send her a new one or send her coupons.

If you tell them that you love their product, are a loyal customer... etcetera, they will often go out of their way to keep you as a customer.

  76. 2. Chaco's!! With the wide strap. A little expensive, but I live in Tucson and wear mine year round and they last forever.

  77. #2- I live in San Diego, so I live in flip flops 8 months out of the year! My favorite are American Eagle. They are usually real leather, so they wear well and they have really good arch support, which I NEED! I pair lasts me all year :)
    Hope that helps!

  78. You have to try Rainbow flip flops. They are leather and they mold to your feet so they are soooo comfortable. I wear them 24/7 all year round in even in Utah because I love them so much. You should get the wider straps because they are comfier. Reef flops are ok but they are not as good as rainbows. Plus they have a lifetime guarantee.

  79. Rainbows. They're soooo comfortable. You can get them with wide straps, which I love.

  80. Chaco flip flops. They are the best. Very pricey for flip flops, but totally worth it! The link I attached says they are $59, but I paid $50 at a different site.
If you have never had chacos they are wonderful! They have a slight arch so they don't make your feet hurt. They should last years and years too. I JUST got my pair of flip flops but I also own a different pair of chacos that I have had for several years now. They are still in great shape too.

  81. one last thing. Chaco flip flops can be tossed in the washing machine. Flip flops tend to smell terrible after awhile so it's nice to be able to wash these. I usually just stick them in the legs of my jeans for a wash and set them out to air dry. I have also heard that sticking them in the freezer will take away the smell but I have never tried that:)

  82. I LOVE my Reef's they are fabulous! They conform to your feet and last forever. I've heard good things about Rainbow's too but they're a little more spendy so I've never tried them. But seriously, in the summer I either have my Reefs or Chacos on. But beware with both...you'll never go back to anything else :)

  83. I live in Florida and I have had the same pair of Rainbows (the hemp kind) for 6 years, they look brand new! I highly recommend.

  84. For casual flip flops I go for Reefs. If you are looking for something you could wear with jeans and a cute top or a skirt I go for yellow box. The are pretty and feel like marshmallows. Either brand is worth what you you pay for them.

  85. rainbows are the BEST flip flops. hands down. they last forever and are so comfortable!

  86. You wanna talk about bedhead? You should my son and his fro!! Holy moly!!

  87. Havianas are the best flip flops EVER! I've had my oldest pair for 6 years and the only reason I bought any new ones is for the color! I wore them right up until I had my babies even thought they are all winter babies and we live in Canada...they are that comfortable!

  88. My absolute favorite brand of Flip Flops are Reef. They last a long time. We (my daughter and I share) still have some a few summers ago. Now I don't wear one pair everyday but I wear a couple pairs and I am a "fluffy" girl so I am hard on a Flip Flop! By the way this is my first comment on your blog. I love it! And your sons are ADORABLE!!!! :o)

  90. Best flip flops: Reef, and Havianas. In both styles, I just buy the basic rubber style flips, nothing fancy. But they are both soooo comfy, and last years!!

I have a black pair of basic reefs, with a dab of glittery stuff on the strap, and I have worn them at LEAST 3 days a week, year round, for THREE years, and they still look new!! <3 it!

  91. aloha~
?#1~ I would opt for a dog or an oreck~ but one is definitely more work than the other, alternately they may last as long and one brings joy!!
?#2~ Living in Maui, we wear 'slippahs' all year long, (even in the raining moments like today!!) I know the popular trend is Havianas (very cute but no support at all), a relatively new company has exploded on the water sport industry..."Olukai" they offer slippers with great support, quality and style.
?#3~ I love being inspired to try new things ... so anything you share is wonderful!!
    ***Have a Maui Day!!***

  92. I have no extra ideas for the first two questions that haven't been said already but I would definitely LOVE to see more boy clothes tutorials!!! I have a 2 1/2 year old boy, and just started sewing again a while ago. I can't wait to dress him up in my own creations! ooo, how about a little boy's hat? Newsboy style... :o)

  93. REEFS! They are super expensive for flip flops, but my husband and I have both had our flip flops for 2+ years, and we wear the same ones ever day all year round (lived in CA then TX) and they are still in awesome shape. And super thick foamy sole so super comfy.

  94. Best flip flops ever (ever - really) are the brand fit flops. So comfortable - you will think you are walking on air!

  95. I had a shark too, and you have to replace the filter on it fairly often. I was unable to find the filter when I needed one and gave up on it. I have a little dirt devil with one of those filters and I told my husband it was broke. After replacing the filter it worked like new!

  96. I LOVE Sanuk Yoga Mat flip flops. They are kind of pricey, but there is nothing that can beat the feeling. They are pretty durable too. I have two pairs and I couldn't live without them!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I am actually form Brazil, so I would have to say Havaianas. They may take a couple of days to get broken into, but they are so comfy and last forever. You can find them at Nordstrom Rack for cheaper! I also love how they have some with a wedge heel, and even metallic ones.
Anyways... Tutorials? Im sure anything you come up with will be appreciated. I specially love boys related stuff, since I'm a mom of two boys also, and the blogsphere isn't exactly full of those!
Just had to say,I'm a big fan of your blog, really love the ideas! By the way, you served in Portugal? Tha't pretty cool, ainda fala portugues?

  98. I have the same issues with our Shark. I love it though!

I ADORE these flip flops and wear them almost every day - all year. In Texas you can do that. Was going to do a post about it last week cuz I love them so much!

  100. My husband bought me a little vacuum unexpectedly one day and i love it. I have and one and a half year old and a one month old so our house gets crumbs everyday. It picks up stuff really good..like cheerios and kix's. It's called a Quickshine(I'm not sure if it's one or two words). He bought it at Wal-mart. And by the way I love your blog and all of your craft ideas!

  101. 2. Chaco Flip Flops. They cost about $50 bucks but I wear them everyday for 6 months of the year and have had them for years. They are super comfy and have a great arch support (I have a high arch so this is important). I LOVE them!

  102. 1) I got nothin'

    2) I have a pair of Croc flip flops that have lasted 4 years now. They are durable (4 years of regular wear), support your feet and can go in the dishwasher if they get gross.

I did try on a pair of

    3) Not sure on that one. Although I did click the tutorial link under your header to see what you've done that I haven't seen yet and nothing came up! (is something broken?)

  103. Reef are my favorite! They completely form to your feet, but hurt between your toes, and they have a black sole so they don't look disgusting.

  104. Hi Cheri. I have a Dyson and love it. I don't have a mini vac, so can't recommend one.
Olukai flip flops are the best. Take it from the Florida sister to know the best flip flops! ;) I have 2 pair and wear them year round. The ones I have are waterproof and VERY comfortable! I even bought Dad a pair and he wears them every time he comes.
Hope this helps! Can't wait to see your new "flops" next time I see ya! Love you!!

  105. 1. I am also looking for something to clean up after meals so I can't help you there.
    2. REEF flip flops for sure. I had never heard of them but was in Hawaii on vacation when my beach shoes were ruined and I had to buy another pair at a surf shop. They are soooo comfy! I also have a cheapie pair of "support" type flips (sort of like Sketchers) from payless that i wear around the house (we have hard floors and it's murder on my feet and legs at the end of the day if i go barefoot)
    3. Hmmm...nothing in particular as far as tutorials
    Good luck with your search!!

  106. 1) I have a stick vac that I bought a long time ago for $20 & it is great. The cord is short, that's the only drawback. I will look at the brand & post.
    2) Havianna's! My favorite pair of flip-flops ever! I have a different pair for every day of the week (I think :)). Look for them on Amazon or at Ross. I also like Reef a lot. Havianna's just have more color/patterns.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm with everyone who says Havianas! They are FANTASTIC. Seriously. You can walk, walk and WALK in them forever. I have one too many pair (different colors, a couple with the thinner thong, and 2 pairs in black). They are my preferred footwear in the summer! My 65 year old mom even likes them.

Oh, and the ones that have patterns on the foot part, in my opinion are not as good as the solid ones (they tend to be slippery).

  109. Rainbow flip flops -- they even offer a warranty (or did when i bought mine 5 years)

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'd have to say Havaianas, the footwear of Brazil. They are inexpensive, come in a variety of colors and will last you at least 2summers, if not more!
    Try 'em out!

  111. I have another vote for the Electrolux Ergorapido stick vac. I did a lot of research when I was searching (I'm weird like that) and it seemed to have the best reviews. Plus, Costco sells it and you know the return policy is stellar. Anyway, I've had mine for a few years and with 4 little boys, it gets a lot of use. Still going strong. And it has a built in dust buster, is cordless, and the filter is washable, so no replacement parts needed. Good luck!

  112. 1. I don't have any idea on the vacuum, I myself am on the same quest.
    2. Best Flip Flops ever. Adidas. I bought some at Nordstom Rack when I was on vacation, 7 months pregnant, and they were the only thing that saved my feet. I love them so much and wish I could wear them year round. But beings I live in Alaska, that wouldn't work.
    3. I don't have any ideas. Only because I am new to the sewing and craft blogging and have a list a mile long of things I am going to do.

Thank you for your blog. I have a little boy (5 months) and I was looking for ideas of fun things to make for him. I fell in love with your blog the moment I read it. Keep up the good work!!
