Wake Up Wednesday

Last week's challenge was to leave a kind note for a server at a restaurant.  I headed to McDonald's playland to give a note to the kind lady who works there (like I mentioned last week).  She is always so helpful.  I eyed her nametag and noticed it said Marie, so I wrote a card to her while she wasn't around and asked the cashier to give it to her after I left.  I didn't want her to know who it came from because wondering can be kind of fun.  I'm hoping it brightened her day and it only took me a minute or two.

On a sidenote, I found out one of my readers is doing something cool.  Allison is writing a thank you note everyday for a year.  You can check her project out HERE.  She carries "instant gratitude cards" with her in her purse so she has one whenever she needs it.  Cool, huh?

Alright, it's time to move on to this week's challenge.  The challenge is to call someone you haven't talked to in a while.  Maybe it's an old friend you miss.  Maybe it's someone you heard is having a difficult time.  Maybe you haven't called your grandmother in a while.  (I know this one can be tricky if you have kids who like to scream in the background.  I am very familiar with that.  I'll probably have to wait till naptime.)  However, it shouldn't take too long and who doesn't love to be remembered?

Now, before you go, who wrote a note to a server at a restaurant?  Hearing your stories and experiences is so uplifting.  Thank you SO much for sharing them with me and everyone here.  See you tomorrow!

  1. I just love your prompts. I didn't write a letter to a server, but I wish I had done so for the lady that rounds the carts at Target. I see her walk to work sometimes. But, I will be calling my grandma today! Thank you!

  2. I actually didn't go out to eat but I told the Manager at Maverick that I loved his store, and he did a great job.
Who will I call there are so many people I haven't talked to in a long time.

  4. I am recently divorced, and just went out on my first date this weekend (it rocked, thank you:) Our server was so nice and made us both feel more at ease. She commented on my hair which prompted my date to mention how good I looked after she left. She was just wonderful. But then she was serving the table next to us, and the guy she was serving bumped her and she dropped ALL the food. She was mortified, you could tell, but she handled it will all the grace she could. When we were getting ready to leave I left a little note thanking her on a napkin. (My date may or may not have thought it was weird, he didn't comment, but he did tip her extra, so maybe that's his way of doing the same thing...:) I think that servers work so hard, and this one put so much extra effort into making us feel at ease, and then for something really awful to happen... I just hope the little note made things feel a little better for her. Great idea, thank you so much for doing this, it has really helped me think outside of myself more. I love it!

  6. Cheri, are you creepin' in my house... in the future? because I was on the phone talking to my brother while surfing my blog feed and here we are. It's kind of creepy of you, and by the way, I'm blaming you for eating the cookies. just so we're clear.
(and yeah, I know, it shouldn't be my brother I haven't talked to in a while, but in my defense I have four of them.)

  10. I didn't write a note to a server...but I am a server and the other night someone left me a note and it made my night! :) Also, someone stopped me as they were leaving and thanked me for taking such good care of them and it means the world when people do little things like that! :)

  11. I left a note on the billing receipt for our server. It was a super busy Friday night at the neighboring pub after a NHL hockey game. She was super friendly, helpful, surprisingly quick and smiled the whole time. I hope it made her evening. :) Thanks for the challenge!

  13. Sorry that I am late this week! I had a harder time with this challenge than I thought I would. I attempted to get the name of our local barista, but they don't wear name tags... long story short, I ended up printing off a thank you card (from here: http://www.junelily.com/free-printable-thank-you-notes) and leaving a nice note in the comment box. Hopefully it made the store's day because I overheard them talking about someone leaving an awful note in the comment box the day before.

The other thing that we did was we went and dropped off a chocolate bundt cake at the fire department. We were in Hawaii the week of that challenge. About a year ago, the fire department checked to make sure that I had the infant seat installed in my car correctly. I was so thankful that I knew it was okay and that my baby would be safe. Now that baby is almost 1 years old! So, I just wanted to let them know how great that was and that it made a big difference in my life.

Hope you are having a great week!
