Wake Up Wednesday

Last week's challenge was to do one thing you've been meaning to do for several months.  I am happy to report that I checked a few of those off the list.  I did a couple of blog posts I've been meaning to do and I updated and restructured the "Blogs I Love" page on my blog.  (Feel free to go check it out.)  I weeded and I trimmed bushes.  I cleaned up the craft room, too.  It felt great.  Don't worry - there are still plenty of things on my list to do.  One of these days I'll clean out our garage and rinse out the stinky gargbage cans too.

Anyhow, this week's challenge is to spread good, uplifting messages.  Let me clarify.  Have you ever read something or seen something that really meant a lot to you and you wanted to share it with others?  Maybe it was a quote or a book or a movie.  In fact, I would love it if you'd share the video Jenfolio did for us that I posted a couple of weeks ago.  I don't have anything to gain from asking you to share it.  I just want to pass on the message that we can all be heroes.  Here's the video, in case you missed it.

If you'd like to share it on your own blog here's how.  Click HERE to find the video on YouTube.  Then click "Share" and then click "Embed."  Copy the code and paste it into your blog with the "Edit Html" tab highlighted (rather than the "Compose" tab).

Now let's hear about your week.  Did you get something done that you've been putting off for a while?  I would love to hear about it.  Thank you for reading.

  1. I did a couple things that I've been putting off. Since we moved into our new place our coat closet has been a throw all for stuff that I don't know where to put. So I cleaned & organized the closet. I met a "new to the area" mom at the pool this summer & we exchanged numbers, but I never followed through. I know what it's like to be new to an area (we move a lot) so I really wanted to cultivate that relationship. I invited her & her son to lunch last Friday & we had a blast.

  2. Since the 'me'-things seem to shift down my to do list as 'house/family/work'-things creep in front of them I am proud to say that this (holiday-)week I have done some long needed 'me' things! Like choosing those new glasses and finally (finally...) having that shoulder checked out that has been bothering me for over two years now. It felt good to check these things off but also to put myself on top of my list once in a while.

  3. Yes! I finally reupholstered one of my daughter's chairs, got started on a secret professional project, quit a side job that just wasn't worth it anymore, and caulked my kitchen counters. Funny, writing it all down suddenly makes me feel proud, but until just now it didn't feel like a lot.

One thing I've kind of been putting off is focusing on the positive... so I'm trying to share more of the good things in my life on my blog instead of whining all the time!

  4. I went and saw someone that I hadn't seen for three months after things ended badly between us.

Thank heavens it wasn't as bad as I was fearing (and I was very scared!)

I also sanded back and painted a nest of tables for our sitting room that I have had sat in the garge for six months! VERY cool challenge.

  5. The first time that I participated and I am sooo proud of me!
I finished a patchwork quilt with I think 50 squares with signitures of the guests of my best friends wedding. It was my wedding present to her and her husband. Oh, in case you wonder, the wedding was May 2008...
Now they move to a foreign country and your challenge gave the final "push" to finish the quilt and present it to them at the farewell party.
My best friend cried tears and will now "carry" us all over to her new home.
Thank you for "pushing" me :)

  6. I started working on my storage room and I am still working on it. It's a huge job. My goal is to have it cleaned out by the time my parents and brother get here for Christmas. :)

What a great challenge for this week. I am always trying to be as uplifting as I can. The past two weeks have been especially hard, but I am working on it. Thanks for the challenge Cheri!

  7. Hi Cheri - first of all: I really LOVE your blog, I'm looking forward to it every single day! Last week, I did a complete makeover of our dining - and living room (which isn't finished yet to be honest)and I also finished my craft room in our basement (with a little help from my darling :) I am very happy with the results!
    Greeting from Austria,

  8. I finally tackled our Master closet, we moved here this summer. Finally, every box is unpacked!!

  9. I am new to your blog but I love a challenge so I thought I'd get involved. (I loved the post-it note one last week!)

So, I finally got round to making a pair of shorts for a friend that I agreed to make at the start of June. Yes, I know that summer is all but over here in London but I finished them. And that's the main thing! Luckily he is travelling somewhere hot in October so they will get worn this year. Phew.

It's actually a great weight off my mind and has freed me up to start making all the other things on my list now the shorts are done. Yay!

  10. I started blogging again after several months of really wanting to get back to having an outlet to be Steph the adult as opposed to the mom, the businesswoman, the wife, etc. It's such a nice feeling to sit down and just talk about things that I care about, even if I don't have much of an audience at this point ;) I also started working out again, which feels great! My older two kids (5 and 3) love to do the DVDs with me, so after we put the baby to bed, that's our time together.

Finally, I'd been reminding myself to nominate a worthy coworker for a corporate award program and I finally did it this week. It feels good to do things that benefit me, but feels GREAT when I can do something for another person.

  11. That was great! And a wonderful message. Last week I actually took the time to craft and create something again
