Make Old Clothes New With Paint

I started thinking the other day about how NOT every project really has to start from scratch.  Here's what I was thinking.......

So, as explained, I broke out my Tulip Glow-in-the-dark dimensional paint....

Iron Man glowing in the dark was a big hit.  It was super easy to do and it worked well.  I'm kind of wondering why I didn't do this before.  (I didn't get a good picture of it glowing the dark for you, but it glows.)

Here's the color change one when it's not in the sun...

...and here it is in the sun.  See how the letters turn blue and the wing tips turn yellow in the sun?  It reminds be of the Hypercolor shirts that were crazy popular when I was a kid.  Cool.

So pick up a bottle of paint, find some old clothes, and give them a little new life.

  1. Color changing paint?! No way! That is awesome. What a great idea! I am totally going to do this with my little guys pajamas. I have leftover paint from the socks that you (I think it was you?) showed me how to make. The ones that you painted on the bottom and made homemade grippers?

  2. That is such a cool idea!! I have tons of hand-me-down clothes. My boys love them but they are a little faded! What a great way to spruce them up. I will be trying this for sure. :)

  3. Super cool idea! My kids would love to do this themselves. Also, not a huge mess to clean up after. We don't have a lot of free time after they get home from school so easy clean up for crafts is a must.

  4. Oooh! This is a great idea! My boys are obsessed with glow in the dark technology right now. AND with superheros! :)

  5. I love to make t-shirts personal, I had no idea that they had color changing paint to buy. Those were some of my favorite shirts when I was a teen, the ones that changed in the sunlight. I am super excited and can't wait to pick some up.

  6. I was just at the craft store looking at fabric paint yesterday. I did not see the coloring changing, but I did see the glow-in-the dark. That is not what I was there for so I left it at the store. Now I will have to go back and get it.

    Thanks for the ideas!
