Wake Up Wednesday

It's that time of the week - Wake Up Wednesday.  It's time for Wake Up Wednesday.  For any of you who are new to this blog, Wake Up Wednesday is a challenge to think outside yourself - to wake up and realize what's going on around you.  It began as a personal challenge for me to reach out to others, but you're all invited to participate in the weekly challenges and share how it went the next week.

Last week's challenge was to smile and say hello to everyone you meet.  I can't say that I said hello to every single person I passed, but I did do better.  The thing is, I have to make a conscious effort because otherwise I end up in my own little world.  I'm still working on this one, but I think we're gaining ground :)

This week's challenge is very specific.  Let me give you a little background info first.  I met Jeannett from Life Rearranged while at the blogging conference, Snap.  She spoke about blogging for good and I loved it.  She invited me to write a post for her series on motherhood called, "What the Baby Books Don't Tell You."  You can read my post HERE.

As part of this series, Jeannett is raising money to create wells where children have no clean water.  It's an awesome cause.  Can you imagine not having clean water for your children?

Can I share some thoughts with you?  Blogging is something I do very purposefully.  I think long and hard about what I do and say on my blog.  I'm not a fan of asking people for money or asking them to donate.  I don't want to make you uncomfortable.  However, when there is a cause worth fighting for, I want to encourage you the best I can.

I think this is a noble cause.  Sometimes we are tempted to think that we have nothing to give or that our contribution is meaningless.  If we each donated one dollar we could build multiple wells.  You can donate HERE or you can purchase a file from my shop this week and it will all go to the charity: water.

So that's this week's challenge.  Donate a dollar to give some children clean water.

Thank you for reading my blog.

  1. I love this week's challenge. Thank you for the information, what a great cause! And last week I did try to say hello more often. I certainly wasn't perfect, but I did have some really great experiences. This is one I need to work on more.

  2. You've got it momma! I love this challenge! Clean water....we have so much to be thankful for that sometimes goes so very unnoticed.

It seems like a lot of bloggers are still mentioning Snap in their posts, sounds like a lot of good was flowing through that conference. I'm making a point to go next year!

As for last week's challenge, it's a work in progress over here too. We did get to the point that my 2 year old would say hi to a stranger but with a nasty scowl....oy vey! Hope your week is lovely!

  3. somehow I found your post there earlier in the week, i think i clicked from pleated poppy. and i donated, a whopping $10. If I can buy a $10 martini, I can donate to clean water. the end.

  4. also, i noticed that 100% of your donation goes to the cause - they find other ways to cover administrative costs. i liked that too. the end (again). ha!
