Have you ever heard something about germs that you knew you would never forget? For me it was an episode of Oprah where they took samples off of surfaces in one lady's home and found all sorts of horrible things. Maybe it made me a germ freak, but I often replay some of the episode in my head when I'm cleaning or cooking in the kitchen. When I'm opening a package of uncooked meat I get pretty serious about washing every part of my body and kitchen that might have touched the meat. Okay, so I'm starting to sound crazy, but there's a point here.
Let me introduce you to my new friend: the Moen Arbor with MotionSense faucet. You see, this faucet is pretty cool and helps me relax about my germ phobia. Why? Because it's super smart. I was nerdy-excited to review it. Let me show you why.
The faucet has three ways to turn it on. There are two different types of sensors and then the regular handle as well. The first sensor is on top. It's a "wave" sensor. You wave your hand above the faucet (no contact necessary) and it turns on.
It will stay on until you wave your hand above the sensor again. This sensor is perfect for when you have dirty hands. No need to touch anything. Sweet.
The second sensor is great for my kids. The faucet turns on when your hands are under it and then turns off when they aren't. I like this "ready" sensor because I know the kids won't leave the faucet on or let the water run too long.
The installation of the faucet was comparable to a regular install. I called my handsome handyman (a.k.a. my dad) to install it for me. The packaging on this baby was awesome - a spot for everything. The batteries for the sensor were also included. (You can install an AC adapter so that batteries wouldn't be needed.)
The boys have been practicing with our new "magic faucet." They might like it as much as I do.
The nozzle pulls out like a regular drop-down faucet...
...allowing you to clean the sink so easily.
And on top of it all, it's really pretty. I love Moen products and just purchased all Moen stuff for our bathroom renovation.

I looked into getting faucets in our bathroom (hello germs on faucets!) but it was just too cost prohibitive.
I used to think that the touch-controlled faucets were marvels, but this is even better! I am so paranoid about touching the faucet handle when my hands are grimy (especially after touching raw meat - yuck!). I can imagine this faucet would become a new source of exploration and amusement for my three year old daughter, too!

I would LOVE to win this faucet! My husband is an avid outdoorsman, so I am always preparing weird proteins (like alligator!) that I am sure are quite germy. It would put my mind at ease knowing that there was one less thing that my hands would contaminate with gator/duck/deer germs.
My current faucet is a leaky mess and I think you've found my replacement for me! Our kitchen sink is the first place to wash your hands when coming in from outside so something like this would be perfect to get all those germs off without having to touch anything (especially after I've been cleaning the chicken coop and such) then all I would need is one of those nifty sensor soap dispensers.

When those motion detected soap dispensers came out I said to myself, Well why does that matter you still have to touch the germ covered facet handles to turn on the water and then you wash and touch them again to turn it off. A little prohibitive I thought. This is amazing, I'm a messy, messy cook and my hands are always covered in something (a little tangent I had a science professor in high school and his motto was the best tools you have are your hands, so don't be afraid to get in there and get messy; needless to say I stir a lot of items with my hands, meatloaf for example) this would be perfect for me!
Ooh, this is nice! We have faucets with motion detectors in our labs at work and they rock. I didn't ever think about it for the home because the work faucets are pretty utilitarian. Good stuff!

I freak out about kitchen germs, too! Especially when raw meat or eggs are involved. This faucet looks amazing for hands-free purposes. Plus, we just brought our new baby home last week, so we're doing a TON of hand washing now!
They have the motion sensors in my son's preschool class and it makes it so much easier for the little ones.

What perfect timing to post about a faucet. My kitchen faucet has been leaking for a long time and just recently it's started spraying. I can't put off replacing it much longer. Thank you for the review because I look online and go to the store and never know what to buy so I go home with nothing. One question-when you are cleaning the sink and you put you hand under to wipe does the water turn on? I love the idea of this faucet but I don't really want the water to turn on anytime something moves past it.

This is such a great idea. I always have grungy hands when I'm cooking and I hate contaminating the faucet (which means I'm recontaminating my hands the next time I turn it on). I think this would also be great for my preschooler who just can't quite reach the faucet handle.
Not having to touch the faucet would make everything in my house less germy. I'm constantly trying to figure out how to turn the faucet on without contaminating it, this would solve that problem, and the problem of the currently leaking faucet in our kitchen!
I would love the fact that my kids would not waste so much water. I am sure they would still waste some but it would cut it down a lot.

I have a 3.5 year old & a 3 month old. I never have 2 hands to do anything anymore. Plus our kitchen sink doesn't have a sprayer. I mean, it looks like it does, but buying a foreclosed home means that weird stuff doesn't work. And you know, having a 3.5 year old & a 3 month old aren't exactly conducive to fixing that sort of thing.

What a help when making dinner and touching poultry. This way I would not have to get the knobs dirty. It would be more sanitary. It would be a great help too for those who have colds so that when you want to wash hands that the germs do not get the surface of the knobs either.
My youngest (who still cannot reach the handle of the kitchen faucet) could wash her hands and fill her water cup without any help!

This would make cooking and handling raw meat so much easier! I wouldn’t have to touch the faucet to turn on the water when my hands are all nasty!

My mom has a faucet similar to that and it is awesome!!!

I have two little boys. As I'm sure you know, your hands are often full when you need to wrangle them to the sink and force them to wash their hands....again. haha!

I would love to have a faucet like this. I recently replaced my kitchen faucet and just didn’t take the time to look into the motion sensor type. But it would be extremely helpful when working with things like raw chicken.
Also, I am a fanatic about no spots on my faucet (or anything else for that matter!). Every time I reach up to push the lever on my faucet, water on my hands drips…. and I have to clean the drips…. AGAIN. I wipe those darn things a hundred times a day!
I like the motion sensor feature.

this faucet would simplify my life by making it SO much easier to wash my hands when they are covered with something, to fill pots, and I wouldn't have to clean the faucet handle as often because I wouldn't be getting it dirty!

I love the fact that it cuts down on germs and having to constantly sanitize the faucet or touching a germy faucet after you've just washed your hands to turn it off. Genius

Turning the faucet on with my elbows after cleaning chicken is rough, my 12 yr old saw this at home depot and is in love with it
Make it easier to clean up
This faucet would make my life a lot easier because I won't cross-contaminate the faucet with handling meat & other cooking ingredients.
