Today we have Kirstin from Kojo Designs. At Kojo Designs you'll find great projects for sewing, home decor, and even recipes. Those girls have all sorts of skills. Kirstin has an awesome tutorial for us today. Welcome!
Hello there I Am Momma friends! I am Kirstin, half of the sister team that blogs at kojodesigns and Shiny Happy Sprinkles, and I am thrilled to be here today for Refashionista. I adore Cheri, love her blog, LOVE this series, and am so excited to share my refashioned leather tote with y'all today.
Last summer, I saved a couple of long leather skirts from the Goodwill pile at my grandpa's house. When I started pining away for a leather tote this fall, I had no further to look than my 'make something amazing out of this' basket.
Since the tote is unlined, and since I braided together long strips of the same leather for the handle (those handles are just tucked through grommets on the bag), this is an alarmingly fast project to sew. I didn't watch the clock, but I think you could whip one of these up in less than an hour.
There's a great tote tutorial here if you've never sewn a tote before (I omitted the pocket step, and added a flat bottom, but the idea is the same). And if this series has spurred on your inner refashionista, here are a few of our past refashions- the sofia dress (a super simple project!), this Anthropologie inspired knotted quilt, this layers of lace dress, these baby doll clothes, this J Crew inspired sequined shirt, and an Anthro inspired ballerina dress.
Thanks again for having us, Cheri- happy refashioning friends!
Thanks Kirstin! I love the grommets and who wouldn't love a free leather bag? Awesome. You guys can see more of Kirstin's awesomeness HERE at her blog. Thanks for stopping by!
