I have one more fun thing to show you in the playroom (but a lot more soon to come). I think every kid gets pretty excited about the mail. I thought it would be fun for the boys to have their own mailbox. Thanks to my talented father-in-law it has been installed.
I bought a regular mailbox ($5-$7). He cut it in half, added the wood support in the back of the box and hung it on the wall. (We have to add the post still, but I wanted to show you already because I was so excited!) You definitely want to drill the wood support into a stud, since it'll get some wear and tear. These are boys I'm talking about.
You can see how the mailbox is screwed into the wood support inside around the edges.
So, what's in the mail today?
Well, my parents are currently serving a mission in Russia. Before they left, my mom wrote a bunch of cards for the boys. Every once in a while I put one in the mailbox so Rex gets mail, too. Now he has his own box to get it in. He loves it.
I also plan on putting occasional treats in there. Who knows...it could be for the toothfairy when she comes to our house someday.
Yes, it's a hit. He likes is so much it hurts.
Thanks for dropping in. Come back tomorrow and I'll show you how I made the shirt he's wearing. (I had to make him another one so I don't have to wash the "Mustache Tee" every night :)
The mailbox is genius! I can't wait to hear about the shirt. I love what you are doing with freezer paper.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I LOVE that!
ReplyDeleteCompletely genious idea.
I need to do that in our playroom.
And the ladder too. (How did you attach the ladder to the wall? My boy is pretty rowdy...)
What a cute idea! And I totally envy this adorable playroom!!
