The Quest for the Perfect Playroom - Part 3

I have one more fun thing to show you in the playroom (but a lot more soon to come).  I think every kid gets pretty excited about the mail.  I thought it would be fun for the boys to have their own mailbox.  Thanks to my talented father-in-law it has been installed.

I bought a regular mailbox ($5-$7).  He cut it in half, added the wood support in the back of the box and hung it on the wall.  (We have to add the post still, but I wanted to show you already because I was so excited!)  You definitely want to drill the wood support into a stud, since it'll get some wear and tear.  These are boys I'm talking about.

You can see how the mailbox is screwed into the wood support inside around the edges.

So, what's in the mail today?

Well, my parents are currently serving a mission in Russia.  Before they left, my mom wrote a bunch of cards for the boys.  Every once in a while I put one in the mailbox so Rex gets mail, too.  Now he has his own box to get it in.  He loves it.

I also plan on putting occasional treats in there.  Who knows...it could be for the toothfairy when she comes to our house someday.

Yes, it's a hit.  He likes is so much it hurts.

If you missed Part 1 or Part 2 of the playroom, click here and here to catch up.
Thanks for dropping in.  Come back tomorrow and I'll show you how I made the shirt he's wearing.  (I had to make him another one so I don't have to wash the "Mustache Tee" every night :)

Oh my gosh, I LOVE that!
Completely genious idea.
I need to do that in our playroom.
And the ladder too. (How did you attach the ladder to the wall? My boy is pretty rowdy...)

THAT'S FABULOUS! All kids LOVE to get mail, heck, I like to get mail when it's a fun little note and not a bill. That is just the cutest idea, I LOVE it!

Oh I love it! I hope you don't mind if I copy the mailbox idea for my basement playroom. I love it so much I want to go buy a mailbox RIGHT NOW. Now I just need my father-in-law to come for a visit to install it. . .is yours for hire?

What a fun idea. Now you can leave "mail". Too bad my kids are teenagers. They have no use for playrooms anymore. Sigh...

That is cute. My daughter wanted a mailbox in her playroom but I thought it would be too big. I didn't think to cut it in half. Don't you think I'm missing a mailbox in this post? http://sawdustandpaperscraps.blogspot.com/
