The Craft Room - Part 1

Now that the playroom is totally done, I'm moving on to my craft room.  Here's a preview to what it has been looking like the past few months.  Basically, it's complete chaos but I do have plans and I'm excited to tackle it.

The first step was a paint job.  The previous owners had installed a wall of faux brick, which wasn't my favorite.  However, I was afraid that if we ripped it off it might have been glued on and we might end up having some major dry wall repairs.  So, it got painted over, which I ended up loving.  My very kind sister came over one night and we got the whole room done.  Here's what it looks like now.  Still a bit disorganized, but it's on the way up.

I picked a pale gray for the walls.  The room will be filled with bright green and dark magenta accents.  Bold?  Yes, but it's the only room in the house that I can make girly and a bit wild.  It's all based off this cute little bin I bought months ago.

See how the faux bricks are almost fun now?  I like the texture they bring in.  I got the fun art on sale and talked the manager down on the price since the paint was a bit cracked.  The furniture was my dad's in the 70's, but it's now cool again.  I love it.

I'll keep you updated on the progress.  I still need shelving and I have some fun ideas up my sleeves for the other walls.  I can't wait till it's all done.

Thanks for reading!

  6. Your room looks great! I love the painted bricks (faux or otherwise). I've been trying to convince my husband the painted bricks are nice, but he doesn't agree. Maybe by the time we actually have bricks to paint, he'll come around...but probably not.

Your colour scheme is lovely. I can't wait to see how it all comes together. By the way, your "before" is still miles better than what my craft area (in the unfinished basement) looks like right now ;-)

  25. I giggled when I saw "faux brick" We had that in our house when we moved in. It was in the kitchen and all around the cupboards. We didn't have the money to do it all, so we painted the bricks too. I do have to say, that 9 years later when we did re-do the entire kitchen... I missed the painted bricks.
