Feature Friday - Poopy Clutch

Before we get started today and want to say a BIG, GIANT THANK YOU to all of you who offered to donate something to the Cure JM Auction.  As I mentioned in my last post, I didn't want to be a downer, but I also knew we could do better.  Thank you for making me smile.  You guys are awesome.

As I was out in blogland the other night I came across the "Poopy Clutch" by Melissa Esplin of I Still Love You.  I saw it and thought it was so cute and then I thought, hmmm she must have spelled "poppy" wrong.  Then I kept reading.  It's a little clutch made especially for diapers and wipes - a poopy clutch!  While I've seen something like that before, I've never seen one so adorable.

I've been wanting to make the switch from a giant diaper bag to a purse and this makes it work oh so well!  Hers fits right in her purse.

So, I found my nearest Tandy Leather store and talked to the kind man there for quite a while.  I found this giant piece of leather I liked and it was on clearance.  Her tutorial includes a free PDF pattern and it was really easy to follow and to make.  In fact, I must confess that since I planned to give it to the Cure JM auction I made an extra one to keep....and an extra one for a sister.  I couldn't stop.  Anyhow, here's how mine turned out.

I love it and I'm excited to use the leftover leather for another project.  We'll see!

If you've never been to Melissa's blog you need to pop over for a visit.  She has some serious skills, great ideas, and beautiful pictures.  Here's the tutorial.  Thanks for sharing your fantastic pattern with us, Melissa!

  3. What a clever idea. I'm well past the diaper stage (although I have a 12-year-old who has never mastered the whole toilet seat up so the seat stays clean).

    Happy Friday!

  6. Hey, I'm usually all for honesty, but couldn't we come up with some euphemism for a name? ;-) haha Cute clutch though.

  7. I thought you misspelled it at first too. What a cool idea. I have been trying to find a leather dealer close to me with no luck. I would love to try this! You are amazing.

  8. If you don't have leather you can use a fake leather or you can use a heavy fabric with another light fabric fused to it (stitch witchery or fabric bond). Then when you cut it it won't frey and can still be scalloped. I wish they had had this idea when I was having kids!
