A few weeks ago I saw this stamped coffee table on Design Sponge. I thought it was gorgeous and brilliant, so I called my little sis and told her all about it. Well, last week for my birthday she pulls out this amazing end table. She and her husband made it for me. Talk about a touching gift! They combined their mad skills and thoughtfulness into the perfect gift. They used these plans from Knock Off Wood.
They hammered in my very favorite quote.
It reads:
Many people die with their music still in them. Why is this so? Too often it is because they are always getting ready to live. Before they know it, time runs out. - Oliver Holmes
It's not meant to be depressing. This quote always motivates me. I love it.
Now, my sister and her husband will definitely check the comments here, so please feel free to give them a shout out for their hard work. They rock, huh? Please tell 'em what you think.
Thanks for reading. I sure appreciate it.
Wow! What a gorgeous gift! Hammering in the quote must have taken some time and precision.

ReplyDeleteThat is just beautiful! What a fantastic gift!
ReplyDeletePossibly one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Can I have your sister for a few days? I promise I will give her back.
ReplyDeleteOne of the sweetest gifts I've ever seen (and one of the prettiest). I love happy stories like this, and find it very inspiring to keep in mind while I plan gifts for loved ones.
ReplyDeleteCass and Coco you guys rock! That is an amazing gift. I love the rugged look. I will send you some sketches of what I'm hoping for. Do you do apolstered? That quote sure is great. I think it is quite inspiring and very aprapo (I know I didn't spell that right-- but seriously, who knows how to spell that?).
ReplyDeleteWow - impressive! I love that they used plans from Knock Off Wood (another blog) and you're showing it on your blog to us... the interwebs are so fun. :)

ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea!! I have the Hyde end table half way built for my house, before I stain it I may have to stamp in my own quote. Awesome!!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI saw, and loved that same table on D*S. So jealous you have relatives with mad skills who made one for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, I want one of those! I showed the picture to my husband, and he totally did not appreciate the coolness. But I'm gonna do this. Soon.

ReplyDeleteThe quote is awesome, too. The other day my son's violin teacher asked him if he had music in his head that needed to come out. He is always singing and wanting to mess on the piano and violin. He's only 4!
A very special gift indeed! Something to be treasured for many years! Your brother in-law is a gem!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw that picture I knew it was the Tryde End Table! I LOVE KOW! They did a great job! Way to go guys!
ReplyDeleteEveryone's talking about the Knock-off Wood site these days, but I have to admit power tools scare me!!! But I might have to get over this fear so I can make fun things like this end table. Nice work!

ReplyDeleteWe bought a table at Pottery Barn last month, on clearance...and I think that plan was modeled after the table we bought. How seriously TALENTED is your family?!
