A few weeks ago I saw this stamped coffee table on Design Sponge. I thought it was gorgeous and brilliant, so I called my little sis and told her all about it. Well, last week for my birthday she pulls out this amazing end table. She and her husband made it for me. Talk about a touching gift! They combined their mad skills and thoughtfulness into the perfect gift. They used these plans from Knock Off Wood.
They hammered in my very favorite quote.
It reads:
Many people die with their music still in them. Why is this so? Too often it is because they are always getting ready to live. Before they know it, time runs out. - Oliver Holmes
It's not meant to be depressing. This quote always motivates me. I love it.
Now, my sister and her husband will definitely check the comments here, so please feel free to give them a shout out for their hard work. They rock, huh? Please tell 'em what you think.
Thanks for reading. I sure appreciate it.

Wow! What a gorgeous gift! Hammering in the quote must have taken some time and precision.

Absolutely beautiful! What a great idea and such a wonderful present!
I may need to get the fella to do something like this for me...

What an awesome & thoughtful gift. Can I borrow them for while as my sis & bro-in-law?? I've only got a few hundred ideas floating around in my head.....LOL! Happy Birthday! You deserve it!
Beautiful end table... maybe I'll have to do some work on mine. The baby bite marks just don't look as cute.
Very cute!
That's really amazing. Love it.
Wow!! That is amazing! You know it's just a wee bit unfair to the rest of us that so much talent is in one family. ;)
That is just beautiful! What a fantastic gift!
Possibly one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Can I have your sister for a few days? I promise I will give her back.
One of the sweetest gifts I've ever seen (and one of the prettiest). I love happy stories like this, and find it very inspiring to keep in mind while I plan gifts for loved ones.
Cass and Coco you guys rock! That is an amazing gift. I love the rugged look. I will send you some sketches of what I'm hoping for. Do you do apolstered? That quote sure is great. I think it is quite inspiring and very aprapo (I know I didn't spell that right-- but seriously, who knows how to spell that?).
Wow - impressive! I love that they used plans from Knock Off Wood (another blog) and you're showing it on your blog to us... the interwebs are so fun. :)
It's super awesome and I love that quote.
Way to go guys. I saw this amazing table and it is, well, amazing. What a great gift, with so much love attatched.
What an awesome idea!! I have the Hyde end table half way built for my house, before I stain it I may have to stamp in my own quote. Awesome!!! Love it.
I saw, and loved that same table on D*S. So jealous you have relatives with mad skills who made one for you!
Oh, I want one of those! I showed the picture to my husband, and he totally did not appreciate the coolness. But I'm gonna do this. Soon.
I love the rustic feel to this table. It's special pieces like this that make a house a home.
That is beautiful!!
what a special gift that is amazing! might have to steal this idea for my little sis!! oh and I would also like to borrow your sis too
I would love to have that table.
The quote is awesome, too. The other day my son's violin teacher asked him if he had music in his head that needed to come out. He is always singing and wanting to mess on the piano and violin. He's only 4!
A very special gift indeed! Something to be treasured for many years! Your brother in-law is a gem!
As soon as I saw that picture I knew it was the Tryde End Table! I LOVE KOW! They did a great job! Way to go guys!
Everyone's talking about the Knock-off Wood site these days, but I have to admit power tools scare me!!! But I might have to get over this fear so I can make fun things like this end table. Nice work!
Totally cool! Wanna be my sister??
;-)
What a fabulous, thoughtful gift! I want to cry just thinking about it (and I'm no where near that time of the month either)! Just a lovely gesture!
Gorgeous! I saw that table on ds too and so loved it. fabulous gift and crazy talented family!
what an amazing and thoughful gift. Wow... hammering in a quotation has to be pretty time consuming!
Wow! Great job! I'm so impressed. It gets me inspired to want to do some "wood-working" myself! Looks like fun!!! Or at least the end result is fun!! :)
what a thoughtful gift! So crafty and talented too.
That. Is. So. Cool.
We bought a table at Pottery Barn last month, on clearance...and I think that plan was modeled after the table we bought. How seriously TALENTED is your family?!
Wow. They made it? Amazing. That is seriously a nice table. And I love the quote put into it. What good family you have.
What a wonderfully perfect gift! Adding the quote was a thoughtful touch. God bless you all!
