My First Pattern!!!!

I'm am really excited to unveil something I've been perfecting for a while.  It's my very first pattern for purchase.  I wanted to do something boy-oriented with a fun vintage twist.  May I introduce the Retro Pointed Bowtie.

It's funky, fun, and classic all in one.

The bowtie is a real bowtie that you tie, but it has an easy closure so it can be tied first and then put on your child.  (Rex would never hold still long enough for me to tie one on him.)

The pattern and tutorial is now listed in my etsy shop, Roar. It's very simple to follow and has lots of pictures to explain. It's a great project for beginner-level sewing. You get two different sizes (2yrs-6yrs and 7yrs-12yrs). You can make one in about 15-20 minutes. You could even make a bunch for Christmas presents.

There's no school like the old school.

My sister and I had some fun dressing the boys all up for this photo shoot.  I had a lot of fun editing the pictures to give them a vintage look.  But, in case you're interested, here's how it really went down.  Turns out my sister's kids are perfect.  Mine are.....

...uh....dignified...

...and...uh....cooperative.

That's all for today.  You'll find the Retro Pointed Bowtie pattern HERE.

Thanks for reading!

  6. I love Monday catch up. I get to see what you have been doing all week-end. You were very busy. I love the boys and their clothes. They look so adorable. I love the bow ties.
I am always amazed at what Jeff will do now that he never would do before. You really have a good influence on him plus the fact he has those cute little boys to spend time with.
I have always wondered about those pet pillows. If kids would really like them? I guess I know now. The turtle is awfully cute but I like the lady bug. The red color is bright and cheerful for little eyes. Most little children like bright colors.
Thanks for having a good week-end so I can smile on Monday.

  31. your boys are just darling. I have just girls at my place. The bottom picture, the one of the baby, it actually made me think of vintage, older style movies and photographs than any of your other photos :) I love it all! Mostly I love that you found something cute to make boys look like boys.

Ok I'll explain a little, its very hard to find something cute and boyish for any of my friends who have boys. Making stuff is hard too mostly because I don't really use the same patterns for both genders. Another thing is one day I had my 6 day old baby at a dr's office. She was in purple, roses, ruffles and lace. An elderly woman there kept commenting on my new baby son! I pointed out to her that the clothing was a give away, she said she had seen some very girlie get up on baby boys!
