Sunshine Sunday - no plans, new starts, and night

The weekends are my favorite part of the week by far.  Sometimes they can get packed with plans, which isn't my favorite.  Saturday we had NO plans and it was wonderful.  I love it when you have an empty day ahead of you.  Anything you accomplish is a bonus.  I cleaned out my closet and got rid of tons of stuff.  It felt great.  I'm trying not to be a pack rat, even though it's tempting to keep everything for refashioning sake.  It was a great day.  We got to spend a lot of time together.

I am also grateful for new starts.  As a mom, I get really frustrated with myself.  I loose my temper with my boys and then I feel so bad about it afterwards.  I am so thankful that I get to start again each week and try a little harder to be a little better.

Lastly, I'm thankful for night time.  When the boys go to bed I get a bit of free time.  My husband and I watch a show or get on the computer.  However, at 9pm we shut it all down and hang out.  That might mean he talks to me while I unload the dishwasher or we might make toast together.  The point is, that little bit of time with no distractions makes a world of difference for us.  We talk and I feel like he gets me.  I am really lucky to have a husband and a best friend.

I don't have lots of pictures to share this week, but these are the pictures of my little guys that I'm turning into canvases.  I can't wait till they come!

Have a great Sunday!  See you tomorrow.

  1. Yes, I love free days with endless possiblities. Especially when you get some thing done in the end. I also understand the "loosing your temper" I hate when I do that. We are doing a new bible study called "Have a new kid by Friday" by Dr. Kevin Leman. It is wonderful and very helpful in raising children. Love the photos too!!!

  3. Those are going to be AMAZING canvases! Yay. And I NEEDED that tip about 9pm and toast. The computer has become the 3rd member of my marriage and it's time I filed for a 9pm divorce. I hope you have a delightful, un-eventful Sunday as well. Lara

  5. WOW, those are going to be incredible on canvas! I have been wanting to order some, but just haven't found the right pictures.

I think we all end up getting short with our children from time to time......I know I do.....especially when I have a million and one things to do. But those lazy days make it a lot easier to be patient and just be thankful for our family.

    Happy Sunday!

  7. I am with you on a day with no plans, oh the possibilities!!! Beautiful pictures of the boys! Taking time with your husband is one of the best things you can do for you, your husband and your boys! Today in worship our sermon was all about being relational and that is the best gift of all! Looks like you are on the right page! xoxo

  10. I hear ya on the whole getting frustrated thing! My girls think it's been pretty fun staying up until 10 at night just because they don't want to fall asleep! It's just about driving me crazy. Hopefully it'll pass soon. Definitely makes me not want to sew or get creative after all is said and done. Great tip on hanging out with your other half, it is such a nice time to hang out without many distractions.

  14. It's funny you posted about this because I've been revamping my jewelry lately. I sell it to others but rarely do I make anything for myself. Such great ideas!
