I bought some wild plaid fabric at Hobby Lobby a month ago and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I purchased it to make Baden some pants. The kid looks like a garden gnome and I can't help but have a little fun when dressing him. Let's just say I couldn't help myself.
I used Dana's pants tutorial again, but I tried the flat front version this time. That way we can tuck in his shirt and not have it look weird.
I used my Retro Pointed Bow Tie pattern to make a matching bow tie.
And? I just can't get enough. I realize it's a bold look and may not be for everyone, but I just love it. Who said dressing boys isn't as fun?
I can't wait for him to sport this look on Sunday at church.
Thanks for stopping by.

cutest. thing. EVER! (and I have two kiddos of my own- i'm such a bad mommy! lol!)
Seth's Awesome Adventure plaid. I have the coordinating paisley print and had kind of the same vision for pants and bow tie, probably because I visit your blog every day and have seen the darling bow ties. I LOVE the plaid pants!
You are killing me with cuteness! Baden is so stinking adorable in those pants. He looks like he belongs on a golf course. :)
He may just be the cutest kid ever! I love the outfit!
Ahhhhh he is so adorable! I just want to put him in my pocket and save him for a rainy day! I love it. If I had boys they would constantly be dressed like they were about to go riding in the english countryside. Except if I had girls they would be dressed like they're ready for a tea party and yet Nicole manages to wander around in leggings with a tshirt, hair in pigtail braids that were falling out yesterday, looking for all the world like a hobo child but happy as all get out. sigh. That said, she does dress like she is ready for a tea party SOME of the time, and she likes it when she does!
Ah! I LOVE it! Dressing boys is SO much fun once you get over thinking they need to dress like your average adult dude. The pants + bow tie is so fantastic. It's also hilarious that you said Baden kind of looks like a garden gnome! I've been trying to sew some different clothes for my son lately. It's so much more fun since I stopped thinking the clothes I make should look like what I would find in the stores. And I just used Dana's flat front pant tutorial for the first time yesterday too. Love it!
So cute!! I love making things for my son in crazy prints. I made some batik shorts for him last year and had lots of fun with it.

I love it! That is just an uber adorable outfit and the little man is sportin it! So Stinkin' Cute!
SOOO agreeing with all the other posters....that kid is so flippin' adorable I just want to squish his little cheeks! (and I very seldom have that reaction to kids that are not my own) That is a cutie you've got there! =)
he will be the talk of the ward!
Looks like he belongs on the golf course! What a little stud. :)
Baden smiling says it all! He loves them!
I love it too!!! It's perfect! now I totally want to make some for my little guy (thought I'll probably wait a little bit since he's only a month old!)
What a handsome boy! I love that fabric.
So. Stinking. Cute!
adorable!!!
Can we say Caddyshack?! I LOVE these! I too am all about dressing my boy up as long as I can! If only I could get him to keep clothes on, period!! Great job on these!!
ADORABLE!!!! Looks like a cover of a magazine, just love it!
Like you sai, not up my alley but OMGOsh!!! He looks absolutely adorable. Wish I could be there on Sunday to see everyone's reaction.
I love it! Dressing boys is so much fun! My husband laughs at some of the things I put my son in but bold prints and patterns are such a fun combo on boys. Great job!
He is so adorable and I love those pants!
I've been wanting to try making the flat front pants for my 5 year old, but I'll have to size them up.
Ooooh, now I know what I'm doing with those hand-me-down plaid shirts my husband was given, but couldn't wear!
Too Cute!!!
a-stinkin-dorable!!! Love it! I just may have to do something like this for my son and dress him in it two minutes before we leave so my husband can't change it! :) Have a good weekend!
Okay that is freakin' adorable.
he he he...garden gnome!
I want a garden gnome just like him! Oh, so cute!
What a darling little nugget, love the pants and bow tie too. Newest follower. Have a fab. weekend. WINKS-JEN
The way you dress your boys is so CUTE! I love how dapper your little man looks. Thanks for showing me that if I have nothing but boys, they can still be as fun to dress as girls!
The outfit is almost as cute as its model!
He is BEYOND adorable. I love the photos you take of him. =) And I LOVE the outfit. I would put my son in that in a heartbeat!! I know my husband would dig it too.
I just made a tiny bow tie for my little man. I didn't use a pattern but I think it turned out great! If you want to see it, it's on my Bourdier Family blog. =)
P.S. I've probably told you, but you make me love having boys even more than I already do!
oh my I totally misread your post and thought you said you bought plaid paint at hobby lobby. I've been sitting here for the last 15 minutes trying to figure out how you painted them plaid! ahh! I was totally on board to try it too! I would like to purchase these :) run it by your little gnome and let me know what he thinks. So ADORABLE!
I'm so glad you tried the flat front! I love the fabric you chose. Great ensemble! And a very cute boy of course :)
so if Baden can't pull these off, it can't be done. Great job.
He could pull off anything with that awesome hair! :) What a cutie!
He is seriously the HandsomEst kid!!! Love it!
