Feature Friday - Specimen Art

My little sister has been settling into her house and decorating it.  Yesterday we worked on a sweet gallery wall.  We were trying to find ways to incorporate her husband in something we hung up.  He served a mission in El Salvador and we thought it would be fun to make some specimen art from the coins he had from there.  Here's how it turned out.  (It's a bit washed out in this picture.)

Cassie (my sister) loves to decorate and her sweet husband lets her do what she wants.  His suggestions sometimes get thrown to the wayside, so I thought this art was quite fitting.  You know, this way he literally gets to add his two cents!  (Ba-dump-bump-ching!  That's the drum thing they do after a funny line.  Get it?)

Now specimen art is something I've seen a lot of in blogland and I don't know who to credit.  That being said, here are a few fun examples I found as I blog hopped around.

Peeps from Choose to Thrive.  This one made me laugh.

My sister's house is looking amazing.  It's been quite the transformation and hopefully I'll be able to give you a peek soon.  Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Ahh, Cheri! You totally made my day, thanks for giving my buttterfly specimen wall art a shout out.

I love the idea of framing coins. This is definitely something I should do with my spare change from Russia!

Thanks for the inspiration and I can't wait to see pictures of your sister's house ;)

  6. Oh that's really cute! My husband went to El Salvador as well. I'll have to find something fun to frame for him once we get into a house.
