Back in the last craft room I had a wall of frames with a quote in them. I wanted to reuse the frames in the new area, so I sprayed them all yellow and gray. I decided to go for a bolder, more interesting layout this time around and I added objects. Here's how it turned out.
We laid out the frames on the ground first. I'm way too impatient to do the whole make-frames-out-of-paper-to-test-the-layout-thing. Once we thought they looked good on the floor they made their way to the wall one by one.
After all the frames were up I started hunting for random objects to put in them. I actually found everything that's in the frames at Hobby Lobby (over a few different visits though).
If you can wait a little bit, there's nothing that doesn't hit the 50% off sale at some point there. This pointing hand was in the spring section, but it was attached to a post and meant for outdoors. I noticed it could be unscrewed, though, so I bought it. I really like it. Rather fitting that it's pointing towards the clock. I have to try not to loose track of time while crafting :)
I tried to keep all the objects black (with exception to the red knob that I'll probably paint), so there would be a bit of continuity to the wall. I think it's important to have some continuity when you're doing something a little out of the box.
The bird cage came from my nieces wedding.
The box was what the projector (that I turned into a lamp) came in. The round vase was $5-6 at TJ Max. The doily was my grandma's.
The Ikea shelving was something we already had in the dining room, but now it houses my fabric.
I am really excited about the way the wall turned out. I'm glad I decided to try something different.
I have had so much fun designing this space and trying to do it inexpensively. The room is almost complete now. Just a couple little things to do and then I'll post the whole room.
Thanks for dropping in.

I really love the arrangement of the frames. And I have to say, I like the one red doorknob. Just a little bit of the unexpected!
Gorgeous shade of yellow, gorgeous!
I love it! I have to agree with Melissa.... the unexpected little pop of red is very nice!
And I must say, I am a little bit envious you have a craft room -- I do everything on our dining room table! lol
I love that yellow, what kind of paint/color did you use?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the frame wall!! The little pop of red is so great too!! I wouldn't change a thing! Can't wait to see the full reveal!! Good job!!
That's really fun. I was thinking of doing a frame wall with objects sometime, so it's great to see one and how cute it turned out! Love the color scheme too. :)
Cute! For some reason, this reminds me of the show Friends...the frame around their peephole!
Cute! Love the color.

I love it! I want to try something like that in my living room!
Very cute, I love the big scissors. I do those walls the same way, can't stand to do all the prep work, just wing it, is what I always say!
Love this! I love the splash of red too!~ That was one of the first things that I noticed! Sure love your blog!
It looks awesome! I love the fun items you place in them. I have a frame gallery wall in my living room that I'm kinda sick of. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to spray paint them yet :/
The yellow frames are sprayed painted with Golden Maize by Valspar, which is carried at Lowes.
