Git 'Er Done - Day Two

So, as I mentioned last week, this week will be "Git 'Er Done Week."  That means I'm going to tackle a lot of things I'm been meaning to do for a while.  They aren't glamorous, but sometimes you just gotta git 'er done.

Our garage is kind of nasty.  I know, that's what most garages are like.  However there's a wooden stairway into the house that I vowed to paint as soon as we moved into the house.  That, my friends, was three and a half years ago.  Well, yesterday was the day.  Yesterday we had some bad weather.  It was cold and it snowed.  I thought about waiting for a sunny day when the kids could play outside while I painted.  Then I thought, "It's now or never Cherdog.  Suck it up."  I have to be a little forceful with myself.  It is git 'er done week, you know.

So here are the disgusting before shots.

Yeah, I know.  So gross.  Can we still be friends?

Here's the after.

The white wall next to it is still yucky, but I have to paint the entire wall if I want to cover it since I don't have the original paint.  I guess we'll save that for another git 'er done week.

Rex cheered me one.  It took a lot longer than I thought it would with those spindles.  3 hours.  Whew!  And that was even with using a small roller.

I was on such a high after getting that done that I decided to clean out my purse.  I found 500 receipts, 2 unwrapped rollos, and who knows what else.  Ugh!  I swear it was clean 2 weeks ago!

So, I got it down to the necessities - phone, wallet, change wallet, pens, sticky notes, Ibuprofen, hand sanitizer, chapstick, earhpones, a hair elastic, and JoAnn's coupons.  Ah!  I feel better.

This week it making me feel so empowered.  I love it.  Are you playing along?  We're going to have a LINK PARTY on Friday so you can all show me what you checked off your list this week.  Woo-hoo!

Alright, that's all for today.  Thanks for reading my blog.  I like you :)

  2. Did you know that Jo Ann's has an app for your phone with coupons? No more expired coupons sitting around in your purse or forgetting them at home! I was definitely more excited about it than anything else on my phone!

  6. Cherdog! ha ha. Suggestion/question, would the sprayer thingy work for something like this? or too much overspray. Just curious. I dislike painting spindly things cause the grooves and angles, takes so long, ugh. Kudos to you for getting it done. I need a jolt too.

  10. Can I just say I like you even more because of your Joann coupons? I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, so if not, this is a tip that CANNOT go unsaid....ask your Joann's store (cuz they do it at two of mine in CA) if they take multiple coupons (as long as the barcode on the coupon is different) and NOT ONLY THAT, but at least in CA they take Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Beverlys!! I went in there one day, and with all my coupons, I saved like $100, no lie!! Just to warn you, when you use other competitor coupons, you have to make sure you put them on the items you want cuz they have to enter the coupons individually!!

  12. I need to clean my purse out too. My problem is I just move all the essentials to a different purse and then the old one sits in my closet full of receipts and other various things! Oops

  14. Love Get 'Er Done week! You've inspired me. We have tons of family coming into town next week and we've been de-webbing the house and wiping down doors, and we finally just got some bunk beds into our girls room and moved their old bunk beds into the boys room, then did some general organization and cleaning in both rooms. Next up - painting the stairwell! Thanks for the inspiration.

  17. Yesterday I cleaned out my nasty nasty laundry room that the kids think is a chuck-me-all room, and today I cleaned out my purse before I read your post! I had to laugh, because my purse looked the exact same way, and I clean mine out almost every week!!!

  18. YES we can still be friends! Just today I was walking up my garage steps into the house and I thought, "Boy, does this entryway need help. I bet a lot of ppl would be disgusted by this mess!" And I shut the garage door quick. Thank you for the little shove to just get out there, even if its cold. Oh, and I totally have my Joann's coupon in my purse at all times too. Def a necessity! :)

  19. It looks great! When you go back to paint the wall you should totally add something like this: http://www.landeeseelandeedo.com/2011/06/garage-steps-can-be-pretty-too.html?showComment=1307718033865#c634162571363512225

  20. You've inspired me to finish a sewing repair that I have been putting off! I would rather sew something from scratch than fix it! Thanks for the inspiration. Now, off to sew.

  21. That looks great. I really like the grey color you painted them. Your purse made me laugh because mine looks like that x100. I used to have a neat and clean purse prior to children and now I find two day old chicken nuggets in baggies and other mystery items *sigh*. Thanks for keeping it real!
