Soapbox Saturday - things I love

I love hearing about products and ideas from friends and family.  Today I'm sharing 5 random things I am loving right now.  It's a random list, but they are all worth sharing.

1) I purchased this oven liner from Kohl's a while back.  It's a super simple concept.  You slip it into the bottom of your oven.  That way when things leak or drip you don't have to spend hours cleaning out your oven.  My sister introduced me to it.  I thought I'd still have to spend a lot of time cleaning the liner, but you can actually just flick the spots off of it.  They don't really stick to it.  Awesome.  (You can also get it a lot cheaper than the listed price because Kohl's pretty much always has a sale going on.)

2) Very Jane.  I mentioned this site at the water cooler a while back because I really like it.  I enjoy the daily deal concept and this site has some seriously cute stuff they offer.  I'm on their email list, which normally I'm not a fan of.  However, because their stuff is so cute I actually like getting their emails.  Here are a few recent things I've seen there.  The prices are really good, too.  These crocheted hats are $8.99!  Really?  Can you even make it for that?

Check out these ruffled baby blankets which are so pretty for photos.

And here's a necklace I just got from Very Jane.

3) Leapfrog's "Letter Factory" DVD.  Rex's teacher recommended this DVD and said it really helps kids firm up their letter names and sounds.  I watched it with him, wondering how they'd get through all 26 letters and their sounds.  It was a great, creative video.  They had awesome and funny ways to remember each sound.  If you're child is 3-5, I highly recommend this.

4) A while back I mentioned that I had read "Leadership and Self-Deception" and loved it.  A few of you mentioned that there was a second book, "The Anatomy of Peace," that you liked even more.  I just finished it and it was amazing.  I don't read really often, but I sure love a book that can make you think about things in a totally different way.  The concepts in this book are great and they are explained so clearly.

I can't recommend this book enough.  PLUS, unlike other self-help books, it reads as a story or novel.  It makes it an easier read.

5) An indoor HDTV antenna.  We cut our cable well over a year ago.  We got really tired of paying so much when we didn't watch much TV anyhow.  We purchased an Apple TV box and got the streaming Netflix for $7 a month.  It's been fine, but I would like to watch the news and my husband wouldn't mind catching some sports here an there.

Well, my mom called the other day and told me about a indoor antenna she had just purchased at Costco.  Okay, I might sound like I'm from the ice age with this, but I thought you have to mount something big to your house or have giant bunny ears to really get basic channels.  This antenna was $29 and we now get around 20 channels.  It's small and simple.  Here's what it looks like in the store.  See the clear thin plastic sheet?  That's it.  You can lay it flat behind the TV or mount it to the wall.

How did I not know about this?  It's pretty sweet.

So, what have you been loving lately?  Thanks for reading.
