For today's tutorial you can head on over to the Moda Bake Shop to see what I've got cooking. Here's a little preview.
Since we're friends I'll let you in on a little secret. That's my nephew in the picture. Until either my sister or I can figure out how to produce a girl there will continue to be some tortured little boys around here. What can I do? Really.
Thanks for stopping by.

YOU are kidding that is a boy...??? I thought for sure he was the cutest little girl I had ever laid eyes on... A boy....no way...you must be mistaken...
Well anyway sweetie, this outfit and your nephew ( is simply adorable)...no way..lol
blessings ms
I love the Jumbo Rick Rack on the dress!
Wow! Fooled me!! Once I saw the picture I thought "what a cute little girl! I love the curls" I was shocked to see it was a boy. What a good sport! LOVE the dress!
That poor boy. Keep lots of photos. That way when he is an annoying teenager you can bribe/threaten/blackmail him. :) Just gently hold it over his head that you have proof that he wore leggins and flowers in his hair. :)
Great outfit. Can't wait to head over to Moda to check it out.
That is hilarious!
And the outfit is very, very pretty!
shhhh!!!! don't tell your sister (or maybe to your broother -in-law) but your nephew is adorable as a 'girl'!!!!! ;)
Your sister will know who to blame if he grows up to be a cross dresser. I have a confession too... when my third son was about nine months old, I dressed him in some girl stuff just to see what it would be like to have a little girl. Fortunately for him, my next baby was a girl.
It's adorable! I am totally going to make one!
but HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, thanks for making me laugh. :)
This is adorable! I want a little girl!!!!!!
That outfit is very, very cute! And, oh boy....you are going to have some great threatening pics when he is older! LOL
Oh man...poor boy! I mean he looks adorable...but these will be those kinds of pictures used at his high school graduation or wedding!! :)
Cute jumper!!
Where do you find the pattern for the dress?
What a handsome little guy! I love the fabrics in that dress, and the giant ric rick is perfect!
Well, we know he'll be secure with his feminine side when he grows up! ;-) Great outfit and darling model, boy or girl! Thanks for sharing!
I would have never known that was a little boy either. That gave me a good laugh this morning. Love the jumper and those ruffle leggings are too adorable.
That is the prettiest little boy I have ever seen!!! I used to dress my little brother up like a girl (I told my mom I wanted a girl, so she did not hold up her end of the bargain....I just made due with what I had) =o) The jumper is too cute, as well.
Oh my goodness, I about fell out of my chair laughing! Thanks for the laugh.
HAHA, my poor brothers have pictures of them dressed as girls but it was because they had older sisters who made them into living dolls.
The outfit is ADORABLE!!!
that is so cute!! honestly he is one of the prettiest little boys ever!! tell him not to worry my daugher (oldest) makes my son (youngest) play princess dress up all the time!!
OMG...I would have never thought that was a little boy..LOL! What a god sport. The outfit is adorable :)
Precious. Love it all. Esp that lil boy. Poor guy. But really am I the only one who doesn't know what a jelly roll is? ha
Lol, never would've known that was a boy! Especially how he's posing so nicely to show off the dress! What a good sport! Someday those boys will be so upset with you for these kinds of pictures! We can make girls in our family either! He have a few pics of boys with headbands with big flowers! What else is a mom with all boys to do? lol. Oh, and very cute outfit!
Ha!! That is so funny:) But the outfit is just about to die for. DArling!
Love the dress. Poor kid. I hope you guys don't use these photos against him someday. He's being a good sport. I didn't know he was a boy until you said so. Just goes to show, it's all about the clothes on little kids (when my daughter was wearing a yellow onesie, people said she was a cute little boy).
Haha, that is so funny, I never would have known! But who could at that age? Bloggers sometimes just have to make do with what we've got, right??
I love the outfit though! I want those leggings in every color!
I thought that looked like Coop. Pretty cute! Make me a jumper like that. (;
Chelsea
Totally adorable!! I was just droolig over a pricey kids clothing catatlog... you got the same cute look for tons cheaper! You rock!
That is one cute boy! Would have never guessed. LOVE the dress! My goodness. I can Only produce boys to so I don´t have a girl to make cute dresses like that for either.
hysterical. he's really cute, anyway. oh, and so is the outfit
haha ;o)
that little boy makes for the CUTEST little girl! the frilly leggings are just to die for! Love this!

OMG I never would have noticed he was a little guy! So cute!
I thought he was the cutest girl ever! But I can see he is a cute boy too!
Oh my, how did Chris feel about this picture? He does make an adorable little girl though!!!
Thanks for the giggle- you're so clever! Make do with what you have, eh. Cute child regardless, and very nice outfit!
What a darling outfit!!! I LOVE the ankle ruffles!! Anyway, your nephew is very cute...I could have thought he was a girl but now that I know he's a boy, he looks like a boy. :)
Huh that is so funny. He would make an adorable girl. :)
I LOVE this dress.. too bad I have a boy and another boy on the way.. but since your nephew didn't seem to mind dressing up, maybe my son wouldn't either....
What a cute outfit! You can always borrow my girls (7 and 5). We live in Salt Lake County. They would love to be dressed up.
that's one cute kid! and such a cute outfit! great job
adorable! i want it...NOW!
That made me laugh out loud! How funny. Poor kid...never tell him. Or maybe do...when he's a naughty teenager.
I'm sorry, but that ginormous brown ric-rac just made me have lustful feelings. Does it count that I have confessed? Because I might be guilty of stealing soon, as well!!
Oh. my. heavens. my husband (yeah, he likes your blog too) and I just died laughing! Girl or Boy, he is theee most adorable little thing I have ever seen!
P.S. I'm super excited that you're a "chef" over at the bakeshop!!!!
Blahh ha ha ha! That is awesome. Coop makes an adorable girl. He looks like he is enjoying that outfit too. It's really cute. I'm sure Chloe would love it.
If your sister's son is this pretty, imagine what a girl of hers will look like! Beautiful child and dress!
I love it!!! I have done the same thing in reverse. When my company was just starting out we needed a little baby to model one of out matching necktie sets, so my niece is the model on a lot of our pics.
I love this and love it even more knowing that it is a little boy! He is beautiful!
that is hilarious! poor guy has some black mail headed his way. but every brother does:) did you curl his hair? funny. love the legging ruffles!
hahahaha. awesome. I was seriously thinking...what a darling girl!
Cute Cheri :)
I thought what a cutie with those curls... I had to scroll back up when you said it was your nephew... Love it!!! The ruffly leggings are great. I guess you and you sis better keep trying for a girl... but boys sure are fun! Thanks for posting.
hahahahahah he's very pretty, though :P
HAHAHAHA!! I am seriously praying that one of you get a girl soon because I really don't think you'll be able to afford that therapy one day.
I love your blog and have spent the last hour reading your past posts (and I only got through June!). Thanks for sharing your craftiness and great ideas!
That is a boy? He's so cute!!! I hope there is no long-term damage from dressing him up. LOL! This is adorable. I'm digging the ric rac. I am featuring this at somedaycrafts.blogspot.com You are oh so talented!!!
I like the variety of strips sewn together to make the jumper.
You'll have to post pictures of this little boy in his own clothes so we can see him being equally cute as himself. :)
I have a jelly roll waiting for a project, so I think I'm going to have to try this one too. It'll be so cute over a long sleeve shirt in the fall/winter. Cute boy, too!
Just saw this post on Craft Gossip and decided to stop by. I am now happily following! That dress is so cute and I love the detail on the leggings! And I had to crack up when I read that your nephew was your model :) He will not be happy about that picture in about 10 years!
I LoVE the jumper and think it could transition into a super cute skirt for my preteen daughter (that is friends with your niece Maddie). I especially love your color/fabric choices. I am always a little leery sewing clothes because I feel like I am afraid of using the wrong fabric blends. Where do you shop? I love Hobby Lobby for cute designs but is it all just quilting fabric?
I keep sewing purses that I was inspired to make from your blog back at Easter time. I'll have to post some pictures to share back. I really love your blog and it inspires me with clever ideas that I would actually enjoy making myself. Thanks!
Would you want to figure out the wasteband for a grownup skirt? I bet you would look really cute in a modified jumper skirt... :)
Adorable dress on an adorable kidlet. I was convinced he was one beautiful little girl. He's going to LOVE you for this post in 10 years. hehe.
I saw this on Pinterest the other day. The dress is really adorable but the first thing that I thought was hey that's Cheri's nephew. Hee Hee! So cute!
Do I need to stitch the ruffle on the leggings with a zig zag stitch or any special stitch to allow the fabric to stretch? Thank you!
Trimble - Yes, you should use a zigzag stitch to sew the ruffles on the leggings.
Cheri
Thank you! Excited to make these!
